Hello all. It has been brought to my attention that my site does not auto adjust to different monitor/screen sizes. The attachment is a screenshot from a user who is using a screen size of 2560x1440. I never gave that much thought until now. When I setup my site, I have dual 24" dell monitors @ 1920x1080 using a modified template21. I've changed anything that would pertain to this issue. Is there a way to have my site automatically adjust itself for different screen sizes?

Hello, folks, I have been trying for days to put tags on one of my pictures, but something is going wrong. I draw the outline on the picture, then I select the person's i number, and then I click on Save and Exit. No problem so far, but when I try to look at that picture, TNG is hanging... it just stays indefinitely on Loading... for weeks: I can view all other media items on my site, just not this one that I'm trying to put tags on. TNG 14.0.4 Hello, folks, When I add media to my TNG site, I am given the choice of placing media items into Categories (either the categories that come with TNG, or I can create new categories to put the media in). I understand that, and have been using categories for years. But TNG also has something called Albums, which I have never used before (and know absolutely nothing about ). I don't mean external albums (such as X3 and Piwigo, etc.), but TNG's built-in albums. Can anyone who uses both explain briefly the differences between categories & albums, and how they're used, please? If anyone who uses both AND has an open site (in other words, does not require logging-in to see items in their site's categories and albums)... that would be great. TNG 14.x Hello, folks, When we display browsemedia.php (by selecting All Media, Documents, Photos, etc.), over in the Linked to column, by default TNG displays perhaps a maximum of about a dozen or so individuals for each media item. If more than that number of individuals are linked to a media item, TNG displays ['More Links'] after the last person, which when clicked on takes the user to the actual media item (showmedia.php), with more individuals listed in the details near the bottom in that page's Linked to section. Sometime earlier this year or last year, someone told me how to increase the number of individuals in the Linked to column for each media item. An example of the increased number of individuals linked can be see here on THIS page. If you look at the 4th media item (Paget) on that page, notice that I have 81 individuals listed. However, I need to drastically increase the number of individuals linked, but my problem is that I can't remember where to make that change, nor who was the person in the forums that told me how to do that . I've searched the forums here, my PMs, and my personal email, but I am unable to find where I was told what to change. And I don't think that it is a Mod on my site that has increased that number. So my 1st question is: what file do I modify, and exactly what in that file do I modify, in order for browsemedia.php to display more individuals in the Linked to column? Now, I just noticed for that same 4th media item on that page, that although browsemedia shows the first 81 individuals before the ['More Links'] is displayed, the showmedia.php page for that same 4th media item shows the next 54 individuals linked to that 4th media item, and the users needs to keep pressing ['More Links'] to see the next group of individuals, etc. So my 2nd question is: where is it defined to only show on the showmedia.php page 54 individuals at a time, as I would like to be able to change it so that showmedia.php shows all of the remaining individual linked to each media item... if possible. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but is there a way or mod to add media to a particular event? Example: I want to add/connect a picture to the death event and also another picture to the marriage event of a person.

TNG 14.0.4 Hello, folks, The privacy on my TNG site is set so that the public can see all details of individuals who are no longer alive, including Photos. The public cannot see any Photos of individuals who are still living. This is done with the Always viewable option, and that part is working great. I also have some media (not Photos, but media in other Collections) that I have more than 1 person linked to, and that I wish the public to be able to see that media, but I do not wish the public to see: which living individuals are linked to those media items; and on the getperson page, for those media items to show up for living individuals. An example would be the maps that I've added to my site. I wish for the public to be able to see all maps in that Category, which they currently can because I have the Always viewable option checked (enabled). But I wish for the Linked to column to NOT show to the public any individuals who are still living... only logged-in users should see those Linked to individuals. Unfortunately, currently all Linked to individuals are displayed to the public, including individuals who are still alive. So my question is: is there a setting in TNG (that I may be unaware of) that I can set in order to hide living individuals from the Linked to column, yet allow the public to see the maps & also all individuals who are no longer living? Likewise, if the public goes to the getperson page of an individual who is still living (as an example, my sister), most non-media items are hidden from the public, as it should be, including Photos, because those Photos are linked to just 1 individual, and I have the Always viewable option for those Photos un-checked (disabled). But the other media such as Maps are displayed to the public for that living individual, which I also wish to prevent. I browsed all the media mods to see if any of them would accomplish this, but I didn't notice any that would. Is anyone aware if it is possible to accomplish this? Maybe my only option is to change my site, so that TNG will display "Living" instead of an individual's name that is still living? Thank you in advance & have a splendid day. Regards, John

Hello everyone and Happy New Year to you all. I need to replace all my images in photos, documents and headstones. I've optimized all my images for the web on my windows 11 pc and want to replace all the images on my live site. cpanel just don't cut the mustard for this unless I want to view and delete one at a time, but I have hundreds of images. What would be the best practice for doing this? all my freshly optimized images have the same names, but the size of the images have changed....

When I add media (jpg) to a person then I want to adjust the title concerning media. Now it is just firstname and lastname. But I'd like to add birthdate to if that is possible.

Hello all. On my localhost testing site, I imported the tables from my live site to the local host. Now when you go to histories, the actual histories are there but also every image from the histories/img folder as seen in the screenshot. In Admin it tells me if I delete the images they'll be permantly deleted. I don't want to delete them just get them where they're not showing up on the histories page.

I want to use the Kloosterman Method to use wordpress and tng. I'm new with tng. Is it possible to add all the things below at one place in tng itself. What I want to do is: fill in as much as I can together, with a menu or something else. (wordpress?) I want to fill in : first: person (name, surname.....) from there also directly: media files (foto, bidprentje, rouwbrief...)

I'm new here. I don't now if its possible, but can someone explain me how to add 2,3 4... media files to person?

Hello everyone, If I want to move my photos, I first create a new media category. Then I move the file to the newly created media category folder. However, no thumbnail is generated afterwards. Generating a new preview image doesn't help either. It just shows that the original is not available! What am I doing wrong???

TNG 14.0.3 (previous versions also) Hello, folks, I am inquiring what other users do in order to display large photos (media) on their sites. When viewing photos, TNG defaults to Fit Width. Choosing a percentage allows large photos to display smaller, but Fit Height has absolutely no effect, on either TNG 14.x, and possibly previous versions too. If I tell TNG to display a large photo at its smallest setting, which is 25%, TNG reduces the photo to 25%; but if I then select Fit Height, TNG instead fits the width. There is no difference in TNG displaying photos between Fit Width and Fit Height... selecting either of them, TNG fits both selections to Fit Width. Is this a bug in TNG that has been there a while? I don't know what the solution is... I would like, if possible, to be able to somehow have TNG default to setting all photos initially at Fit Height. However, I don't know what TNG would do in the case for photos that are small. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Regards, John

I have used several systems for face recognition, as Picasa and Imatch by Photools. That means that my pictures has the resulting face tags from those systems hidden in the metadata. Would it be possible to include this in TNG? Perhaps in connection with the Image tags? There would not be needed a complete face recognition system in TNG, only the capacity to catch the info when it is there.

Hello, Sometimes when I subject media I use a screenshot with my i-pad of an image. This image is rather large (sometimes 10 Mb) and in a .jpeg extention. it's strange that adding media sometimes leads to results, but other times there is noting to see. is there maximum size or/ extention what could used. best regard Hans de vries

Hello! I've installed TNG 14. Only registered users can login. I've uploaded some images and tested if I could load an image with a direct-link (https://www.domain.com/photos/image.jpg). The image appeared. I don't want images to be directly accessible from the web. Is it possible to stop the images from being directly accessible? Regards, Roland

I have a couple of questions regarding randomphoto.php. First - I don't see where/how the maxwidth and maxheight vars keep the image that's showing at those parameters. for example, images that are landscape, those seem to appear OK. But the images that are portrait (vertical) show up as long (more than the maxheight size) in the randomimage photo on the main page. I'd like for all images to show up as the size of maxwidth and maxheight parameters (250x250, 175x175, etc). You can check it out on the site in the signature. Thoughts or recommendations on this? Second - I'm curious to know if anyone is using the Random Photo Display mod by Graham Chamberlain on TNG v14 or 13? It was last updated 30 June 2018 for TNG v12. Is Mr. Chamberlain still supporting this mod? I'm just asking because I don't want to try it on my test server and blow it up, if you know what I mean.

Hello @Michel KIRSCH and all. In a post a long time ago: Please note that one of the links in that thread is not correct. Better see below. I asked you if it is possible to exclude previews of excluded media from showing the watermark. In Watermark v13.1.0.4b this problem is not solved (or do I miss something?). Is there a change in v14.0.0.4b? And if so: Is it possible to make the same change in v13.1.0.4b? (We are not going to upgrade the site to TNG v14 because of all the custom mods in there, that I don't have the capacity to update. And it runs just fine in PHP8.2.) There are no problems when showing the images it's only the previews. The images (esp the maps) are free to copy and use so they should not show the watermark. (It looks really ... not good ) And people are promised to see watermark-free images if they contribute to the site but the previews display it - and often the preview size is enough so they don't bother to look at the image itself. I really hope there can be a solution for this or the "No Preview mod" has to be re-installed - it is temporarly uninstalled for your convenience. In the Media menu, "Foto-dokument" and "Bilder/Foton II" should be excluded, and the images are but the previews are not. "Gravstenar" and "Bilder/Foton I" shall - and do - show a watermark. (The rest are N/A). "Kartgalleriet" is a collection of giant copies of maps and the preview is not important as there are scaled down copies in "Foto-dokument" attached to places. For example, at this place Gålsjö bruk (example) there are two media groups: "Foto-dokument" that should not show a watermark, but the preview does, and "Foton" that correctly show the watermark. Upgraded to v14. Now it is not possible to edit any images. It just keep LOADING. Happend with all jpg and png images and in all collections. OK with pdf-files The tng_image_tags table with the new linktype looks OK I have observed that in Adminstration the MEDIA tab show 786 photos for all collections, but when I select each collections seperately it only gives 321 in total I have upgraded to v14 2 times and it same result Any help?

Hi Everyone! I am getting maybe 20% of my gedcom with media/medialinks and photos/associated medialinks appearing in TNG. For example I might get my mom's marriage cert in event and in photos get her house she grew up in, but no profile, and 8 other event photos, and at least 20 in the photo section of various photos of her and census records, etc. On the other hand her mother has all showing in the correct place 100% complete. I have done imports of : FTM2019 (Gedcom)===>TNG ANC===>RM (Gedcom)===>TNG ANC===>RM (Tree)===>FH (Gedom w/plugin for TNG)===>TNG all with the same results. In the interface for RM, FH, the individual page, etc all look correct, and when I checked the medialinks and associated medialinks they were all correctly there and linked to the correct image/filenames. Each time I have prepped before importing a gedcom to TNG by: 1. utilities =>optimize/backup all tables 2. setup =>created tables 3. utilities=>restore all tables EXCEPT address, children, citation, families, events, media, medialinks, notes, notelinks, people and repositories. Hi Everyone, I have a large number of media that has that appear the same fashion as in the screenshot. Do I : 1.need to delete the one without links (most likely)? or 2. merge them together? In the attachment, you can see, one has a .jpg extension, the other doesn't. Its tricky if the media links need the dup that has the .jpg extension? Not sure.... is why I ask, As well I dont know if there is a mod or feature or way to merge in the admin media panel. Thanks for any thoughts, Jeff

After searching the forum and not finding anything, I was wondering what would be to proper way to display not only photos, but documents and headstones also thru randomphoto.php? Any suggestions or examples will be appreciated.

Hello all, Many of my media title/description contain spaces at the beginning and/or end of the title/description. I tried to use PHPmyAdmin to get rid of them by using the following SQL statement SELECT TRIM(description) AS new_description FROM tng_media; Unfortunately without the result I was hoping for. I do get the message below when I run the sql query. Any idea's on what I need to change?

Hello and good morning. I just did the upgrade from v1312 to 14.x on my localhost. Everything seems to have gone smoothly, EXCEPT, none of my media files (photos, documents and headstones) are showing. The gallery is empty. Slide show does works. In admin -> media, the thumbs don't show. So, before I proceed doing something stupid, could someone please help me out with this one?

Hello all. Is it possible to add code to the randomphoto code I have in my template19 index.php. to center the media title, instead of having to do every media item manually?
