Have noticed on the standard, compact and box ancestor charts that if your number of generations is greater than what is actually in the database, that empty boxes (not the 'add family' boxes) appear where there are no families/people to display. On the other hand, the vertical chart neatly displays no empty boxes. Is their a Mod to remove these, or any hope of this being modified in TNG 11.x? Ron

I'm a new user of TNG and love the posibilities! There's one thing I can't figure out yet: my heat maps don't load (see screenshot). Link to the site. I have tng 11.0.1 and I've read that I don't need any API keys, but it's still asking for it. I also geocode my places (one question: how do you know it's finished geocoding? I only have 52 places for this moment, and they show a longtitude and latitude, Is it alright then?) I can't find a solution on the forum or internet. Can someone help?

I am unable to run the secondary process "Track Lines" from my site, after having just done a GEDCOM update. Sometimes it is slow, but this morning it is just not working. I have cleared the browser cache (Firefox) Has anyone else had this problem, or is there a work around? Thanks

The 'not copied' and 'not installed' errors are a bigger (and more mysterious) concern. I appreciate any suggestions that might come my way. Thanks. PS I'm also hoping that if I can figure this out, I'll be able to tackle the list of errors the census mod is waving in my face.

the gedcom file I am trying to upload is 17+m created from rootsmagic. 48000+ individuals. How long will it take to load; it had been running for 30+ minutes and I stopped it. 10,000 people in the data base. Should it take this long? The first time Darrin loaded the file from a gedcom created by TMG. Running 11.0.1 I thought using a Rootsmagic gedcom would be better.

Tried to install Robin Richmonds TextPlus Charts Mod 10.1.0.12 and received the following Cannot Install line 233: %target:descendtext.php% line 235: %location:% not installedline 245: %location:% not installedline 253: %location:% Bad target Get the same result without any other Mods installed, even on an unmodified TNG 11.0.1 system. I'm new to TNG and using template 8. How do you add details to the vital records (BMDB) and such? There's no details field on those events like the other events. I also need to know how this event can be linked to the witnesses - such as when a parent or other relative signs the marriage record. Any suggestions?

This has also been posted on the tngusers2 list. Would like to modify the ‘search’ (see below) on template11 index.php to include the Person ID, in addition to the First Name, Last Name located just above the ‘search’ click button. Below that are the normal menu items. This would be similar to the fields in the dropdown ‘quick search’ activated by admin:setup which contains 3 fields, first name,last name, and ID. It is not a ‘equal, contains, starts with’ field, just the ID match. Did copy some code from searchform.php, but haven’t been able to effectively remove the array ‘equal,contains,starts with’ and just set with equal to the data entered for submission to the search. Entering directly on the Home page saves an extra click to get to another page besides the homepage to enter the ID. Also using the Married Name in Search MOD as well, which is a really simplifies searching for women. Alternatively, could use the index.php menu item ‘advanced search’, converting it to a quick search, but the admin:setup doesn’t effect that, even though both call searchform.php. Can somebody clearify why my familiychart is collapsed on one pile? I-am using template 15, but it is the same in the other templates.... When I did the first install (update from 10 to 11) it was working normally. I altered some things. Changing template is not helping at all.....

On individual page, the 'suggest' tab feature properly sends an email to the email setup for admin, but suggestions for events having the link and tooltip 'suggest a change for this event' do not.(e.g., born,died, married). Is there another parameter besides email that is needed to activate email delivery of changes? Upon saving, TNG indicates the suggestion will be forwarded to the administrator. I was wondering if anyone has modified the wordpress tng plugin to convert the widget menu to a navigation menu on wordpress. If so, can you please provide me with the code. My site is here. As you can see on my site, I don't want the "genealogy menu" as a widget, but as a navigation menu so that I can place it at the top navigation menus. Currently, I manually added the links to my nav menu, but then I realized that if someone logs in, the nav menu will not hide the "log in" and "register" links.

After at least 20 times, I've finally just about given up. I cannot get past the message "there was a problem returning data from the server." etc. I have followed the installation instructions down to the letter. I have created a wp and a tng folder under public.html. I have copies config.php to the same directory. i have copies the .htaccess files as well. Still no result. The installation of the mod 'Unused Media' goes OK, but attempting to use it (use tab 'Unused Media' gives this error message: " Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function ereg_replace() in /..........www/sieinogen/admin_unusedmedia.php:57 Stack trace: #0 {main} thrown in /...........www/sieinogen/admin_unusedmedia.php on line 57". I get this error each time I try to access the "Help for this area" in any of the options within administration. Error: TNG is not communicating with your database. Please check your database settings and try again. Settings can be found under Admin/Setup/General Settings/Database, or at the top of your config.php file. I have just upgraded from V10.0.3 to V11.0.1 without a problem. Everything else appears to work as expected. Setup>Diagnostics has all green ticks. - PHP Version is 5.6.15 and MYSQL is MySQL 5.5.5-10.1.9-MariaDB (server) The config.php is: $database_host = "localhost"; $database_name = "genealogy"; $database_username = "xxxxxxxx"; $database_password = 'xxxxxxxx'; $database_port = ''; $database_socket = ''; $tngconfig['maint'] = ""; $language = "English-UTF8"; $charset = "ISO-8859-1"; COLLATION is latin1_swedish_ci This is the path from the popup help window - http://www.gardiner.com.au/genealogy/languages/English/config_help.php#modify I did wonder if the path should match the language path /English-UTF8/ but it is already setup that way. I've noticed in the users admin settings (admin_users.php) that there is a toggle box with the option to "Do not send mass email to this user". I was wondering what is that setting for? I've assumed that there's some place in the admin panel to send mass emails to all the users, but I can't find it. So is this setting used to send a mass email/newsletter to registered users?

I am conducting the Culbert One Name Study using TNG. I would like to create 2 reports, one that identifies all instances for individuals as fathers where his Culbert surname differs from any child's surname and their relationship is a birth, and another for all instances for individuals as children where their Culbert surname differs from their father's surname and their relationship is a birth. I am obviously NOT interested in adoption, foster, or stepchild relationships in these reports. The options available under TNG Admin. on the "Reports >> Add New Report" page do not allow me to create these reports, and I know nothing about creating my own SQL statements. For those genealogists interested, this situation occurs when children change their their surname spelling, or adopt a different surname, and it is not uncommon to be found in surname studies such as mine. I want to be able to easily find those instances in my database, which now consists of almost 28,000 individuals. Thank you in advance for any help with this.

TNG attempts generating miniatures "recursively" like below: Thumbnails not generated due to path, permissions, size or file name problems: 3385 ... …/gene/photos/thumbs/thumbs/th_th_GrabskiWladyslawJan.jpg (invalid image or inadequate permissions) ... (and next thousand similar messages) I defined “Thumbnail prefix” for photos as “thumbs/th_” . I checked that thumbnails-of-thumbnails are actually created if I create nested “thumbs” folder – but that makes no sense, of course... I currently use TNG v11.0.1 (maybe problem appeared earlier). I’ve installed the new TNG v11.0 and started importing GEDCOM file from a server directory (my hoster company name is 1and1) If “Import media if present” is checked - import stops (freezes) at the first record referencing to a media (independent on any other import options) without any message. This is independent on the record type (INDI, FAM, SOUR, …) and type of media file referenced (jpg, gif,…) Media records in my GEDCOM file: Always “level 1” (i.e., inside of a “level 0” record). Only filename (no path). No mediatype defined. Always like this: I successfully use TNG and import GEDCOMs for years. I would try debugging more deep, but need help or advice for this (which files are involved? php or js?). Any guidance appreciated. mjaro

I had a user register for a username/password. I confirmed and completed her registration only later to find out that she misspelled her email address. What I want to do is correct the email address and resend the confirmation email that she is set up, since she will not get it at the wrong address. Is there already a way to resend her the confirmation email? If not, might I suggest that if you change a users email address that TNG would automatically populate an email with the new address and their username/password. Emails do change and this might be a way to handle the changes and send them a reminder of their login info. Thanks

I would like to have the option (mod?) to select which data of living people should be visible on the site without users have to log-in. In TNG it isn't possible to show only the abbreviations of the name for living when not logged in as a user, What can I do to realize just that? Bernard

Darrin just released TNG 11.0.1, and the only MOD which 'cannont install' needs some changes is the Media Preview Fixed MOD. It targets genstyle.css . Before I compare changes, has anyone worked on this yet? I will send a note to the author as well, though I've never been able to get responses from Jeff Robison through the Mod Support channel. Update:Fixed. Just a minor change within the MOD media_previewfixed_v11.0.0.0.cfg , and all works fine. Since TNG V11, I have a problem with the admin utilities menu, but only in the Dutch language, it doesn't show the first two columns [action] and [select] for backing up the files. When I change to the US language the problem is gone. The problem is caused by the Personal Table Maintenance mod v10.1.0.4 somehow. When I unistall this mod, the problem is gone and it works OK. When I unistall all my mod's and only install this mod (and put the translated textstring in cust_text.php) the problem is back. Please help Bernard
