We are working with "official" Trees, in which we only keep civil records. From this tree we want to export dedicated persons into our "local/private" Familytrees, like export all "Millers" and their ancestors up to 1 or 2 generations. Export dedicated persons is only possible from the frontend. This has several drawbacks: - Connections to associated People are exported, However the exported person isn't exported. If I import this into another tree, it leads to links being in the database to persons that either dont exist or are the wrong person. The only way to avoid this is to insert this person manually in to the GED file or delete the ASSO tag. - The Source-Information from the Families is not exported. (possibly because its not GEDCOM 5.5 conform) - Each person needs to be exported one by one. From the backend only the whole tree can be exported. Does anyone have an idea to solve this within TNG, or is there a mod or tool, which can be used to "extract" the people I would like to migrate into another tree ?

Hello, I noticed that when viewing a person record who has a same gendered spouse that it shows as "Married".  Might I suggest that you change this in the next release so that it says "partnered" rather than "married" if the gender of each partner is marked as the same and are not legally married?  Not all same-sex spouses are married to their partners but may have been together for long periods of time and are considered family. According to: http://tng.lythgoes.net/wiki/index.php/Body_Text_with_Image it is possible to insert images into documents in the body text section.  Unfortunately, the information at the above link only says it can be done, but doesn't explain how to do it.  Can someone please explain HOW to do it?  Then maybe someone can update that wiki page to make it actually useful. In order to clear up some documentation inconsistencies between the Responsive Tables Wiki page and the Citation Master Basic Wiki page, I downloaded Responsive Tables and Responsive Tables-2 Citation Master Basic for testing purposes.  The test harness is an installation of 10.1.0 preloaded with Citation Master Basic 10.1.0.3. The Responsive Tables Wiki states: ... Indicating an installation order of:  (1) Responsive Tables; (2) Responsive Tables Cite Master; (3) Citation Master Basic Using this order from an clean TNG installation, the following error is generated in the Mod Manager for Citation Master Basic The Citation Master Wiki does not give an explicit installation order, but using:  (1) Citation Master Basic; (2) Responsive Tables; (3) Responsive Tables Cite Master... gives the following error in the Mod Manager for Responsive Tables Cite Master: I believe that additional Responsive Tables testing is necessary and am willing to help out as my schedule permits.  But if we're not able to resolve this issue, I would like to revert the Citation Master Basic Wiki page and note the incompatibility with Responsive Tables. I have been using TNG for years and I have always updatet the site by importing a Gedcom file. But for some reason it don't work anymore. I can Select a file and upload it, and when I start the import TNG is opening the file, but when the import is starting, nothing happens. And if I try to preview a Godcom file from the /gedcom folder (within TNG), I get a 404 error.   Trond  

Hi all - I've been using TNG since 2008 and have gradually upgraded to the current 10.0.3 version. My site is integrated with WordPress. I'm currently getting the following error message when trying to use the 'Relationship' function:    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/thewilli/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/tng-wordpress-plugin/tng.php(893) : eval()'d code on line 453 Any suggestions as to a solution?  

Request some distinctive way to mark direct ancestors. I know some folks use an imag. That would work for ancestors for whom I have no image -- but I would NOT want to do that for my parents. It could be something like what Ancestry uses -- the leaf. Maybe a small pedigree chart icon that appears when we view our TNG pedigree charts as well as to the right of the name when we are editing or testing. I honestly do not care how it is programmed. It would be nice if a different color was used should it be a direct ancestor from my maternal line than from my paternal line. Please give serious consideration in a future upgrade. Or in a MOD. If I should be in the other (now lost) users group, I apologize in advance. I downloaded the Same Person MOD (v10.0.3.3) for installation on my test/XAMPP site (v10.0.3). I got as far as the Rename step - which successfully created the table --- but it would appear at the same time to have also emptied all the others tables. For emphasis - all the tables are empty. I suspected that when I went to see if I could add a same person link to a grandfather who was no longer listed. No one was listed. Figuring with busted logic that I could reload the recent backup, I went to the admin page -- but could not enter as the Admin. Why? Well Regis, I suppose because the tng_users table was empty. I then went to the localhost phpMyAdmin and added myself to the otherwise empty tng_users table. I still could not get in. (That is also when I confirmed that all tables were slick - empty - void.) Could someone please provide me with (additional) steps to take to get the XAMPP site running again? Before I break something else... With my thanks and appreciation. Is it possible to link certain media, such as private pictures, to specific branches in my tree.  My objective is to limit viewing access only to users who are authorized to view that particular branch.  Is this possible and how do I go about setting it up?   Dan Wedig

Hello - I am hoping I am choosing the right section to ask for help. Pleased to say the new update is fantastic and has fixed all my little gliches except one. Previously I have entered links into events to link to an external web page.  I did it like this Open up an event when editing a person's page. In the alternate description section I would place a hyper link like this <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Barton_(missionary)"> John Barton</a> On the person's get page the link would show and take the reader to the wiki page for that person. When I do this now - the link no longer appears on the person's get page.  Strangely all previous links that I did prior to the update before last still work, but any new links I have tried to add since then won't work. "John Barton" shows on the getpage without the underlying link to connect to the wiki page. I have tried many times thinking I have typed the link incorrectly but this is not the case, I am doing exactly what I used to do to create the link, the old ones work but the new ones wont. What is the advantage (disadvantage?) of linking a user to their individual ID? 

Hi All, Getting back into the TNG game after many years away. After upgrading from v6 to v10, I ran into an issue where emails from the suggest tab (and I suspect any others) were not being sent. The email address I use is powered by GMail and requires SMTP.  Even when correctly filled out in the settings, I was getting errors.   After a little investigation and experimentation, it turns out that a single line of code was necessary to fix the problem... in tngmaillib.php, insert the following on line 23: $mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl";Obviously, it would be better to have this as an option in the config, but hard-coding it serves my purposes. I've seen some older posts dealing with similar mail errors, so I hope this helps someone.

Hi, I am a fairly new user of TNG.  I am currently using the Census Plus International mod and I am getting the following problem. After I have imported the DOM and updated house numbers, I go to link IDs and for some people I get the following message "Event type ID matched census event found for person ID 47. Event type ID is 19 date is 3 Apr 1881 and Event ID is 6684 option to overlay location is set to :n" The first link is for Benjamin Waterfall, and this shows his family is 1881.  Even though I have linked all the family, the census information does not show up for his wife Christiana (2nd link) http://www.waterfall.name/getperson.php?personID=I5&tree=tree2 http://www.waterfall.name/getperson.php?personID=I42&tree=tree2 This occurs for the same person over multiple censuses. I've installed the wordpress plugin; and when trying to login to wordpress I've got message that user_pass_ok  function is deprecated since version 3.5, and was asked to use wp_authenticate() instead. I've replaced user_pass_ok with wp_authenticate(), and got just blank screen, and the only way for me to login to wp is to disable tng plugin. And yes, I use "the newest tng.php for use with TNG 10.1" Thank you.

I am setting up a new site and it's been a while since I've done this. The desktop program I use is Legacy Family Tree 8 (8.0.0.473). From reading the Wiki it appears that I can use either TNG or LFT as my master database for place coordinates. I'd like to use LFT as the master and then import the GEDCOM containing this info. into TNG. The question I have is does TNG use decimal for lat/long? (IIRC it does). And if so, do I then need to convert all the place names in my LFT file to use lat/long since they are all in DDD/MM/SS.xxx at present? Thanks - any advice from those of you who have done this is appreciated.

In my family tree I have a person that was born as one surname. He was adopted by his aunt and uncle on his mothers side at a very early age. His name was changed to his adoptive parents. How do I reflect that in TNG10? Do I have to create a new person to do this. I believe that would compromise the true ancestors by birth. Any help would be appreciated

Hi all, I have a strange mod manager issue. I am on TNG 10.1.1, several weeks now, and suddenly these strange errors occur, when installing or deleting (different mods). See the attached pictures. The errors seems to have a relation to permissions etc. but I have checked everything. I can not find any wrong set permission to files and/or directories. The mod file as stated in the picture is in the mods directory, The website is working without a problem, so I am a bit lost (http://www.stamboominformatie.nl). Does anyone know how to solve this? With the Change Language Droplist Mod installed, the text on the menu is not aligned with the text labels of the other menu's. See the attached image. (template 12). How can I fix that ? Bernard

Hi I have a little problem upon my installation of TNG v. 10 It seems like no matter what link i press on it comes up with an error, i cannot create admin or anything else in the backend.
