Is there any plans to add a citations section to the admin area. It seems a waste of space to have multiple copies of a citation in the database and having to edit them individually if you make an error.

I discovered that I am unable to load the Import/Export (admin_dataimport.php) from the admin menu. All I get is a blank page. My provider (dreamhost) has recently updated PHP from v7.4 (I think) to v8.1. At the time, I was running TNG v. 13. I have updated TNG to v. 14.0.1 thinking that 13 was incompatible with PHP v8.1 in some way. It seems everything is working fine after the upgrade, but the dataimport page still does not load. I tried some more things and found that admin_diagnostics.php also does not load. I'm not sure where the problem lies or if there are other undiscovered problems. I'm not too conversant in the back end stuff because I don't use it that often. I use Firefox, but have tried this from Chrome to no effect. I'm out of my depth on customizing my site at https://www.mccallroots.com/ I can't find where or how to adjust the text and spacing in the center panel (Most Wanted, What's New, and Contact Us) so they're visually consistent with the left and right panels. I also want to add space above the "Cloud of Names" insert. I know it's here somewhere! [TNG 14.0.1; Template 8 modified with Cloud of Names]

Where and how can I increase the space between the last letter of the word and the pencil for editing? The pencil shows when a user is assigned the "Submitter" role Probably need to add    Just don't know where.

Simple SEO has been around for over 7 years now, and in that time a lot has changed in TNG, the Mod Manager, and PHP. The experience of moving from TNG 13 to TNG 14 has demonstrated that some of the Mod coding approaches I used when Simple SEO was introduced are no longer sustainable. Furthermore, mod conflicts are getting more and more difficult to solve or work around. Accordingly, I've decided that Simple SEO needs a 'clean' re-implementation, and I'm going to start that sooner rather than later to try and get a sustainable package prepared before the next TNG update. With that in mind, I'd like to solicit feature and language suggestions for V8, the next release. If you're not yet using TNG 14...don't worry. I will back-port V8 to TNG 13 and perhaps to TNG 12. Keep in mind, though, that the original purpose of Simple SEO was to make HTML header changes and page simplifications (titles, sub-headers, ...) that improve search-engine optimization. So I'll be looking at suggestions with that in mind. Suggestions for additional language localization can be anything you like. (Oh...and...I don't have any ideas regarding how to improve SEO for newly "AI enabled" engines like Bing, so don't ask. :- ) I was a cybersecurity guy in my career not a artificial intelligence guy.) When a user enters the site for the first time, I want to have a popup notice, similar to the GDPR that would be viewed and clicked to close. It would need to be one that may be changed according to circumstances. For instance, maybe for the month of January, I have a Happy New Year popup and then in February I have a popup making a plea for users to add their family information, or even a popup to fundraise. Preferably it would only pop up once each time the site is entered, be centered at the top of the screen and be small enough (max 375px wide) to fit mobile device screens. The container would need to hold text and an image. Has this been discussed before? I have not seen it and apologize if it has. Short of a popup box, I'd be happy to with adding a custom button to link to an outside page at the bottom of the home page above the footer. I'll take the easy way out, probably a button, but a pop up, as aggravating as they are, would be most desired. If anybody has suggestions OR if there's a mod to do this please help. Thanks

I have an own Template which is based on Template 12. Now i want to make it multilangual - german and english. For this i need at least 2 more textfields. i checked TNG-Wiki, but didnt find any what can help me. Maybe my english is not good enough or i dont use the right words to search. Can someone tell me which procedure handles the setup? - Adding fields, type, size and position for Templatemanager. Also i like to change the naming of fields for Templatemanager, but this is not mandantory.

I get a HTTP 500 error when trying to create a PDF. What could be the reason? This page isn't working at the moment francisfranck.com can't currently handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500

I have a couple of questions regarding randomphoto.php. First - I don't see where/how the maxwidth and maxheight vars keep the image that's showing at those parameters. for example, images that are landscape, those seem to appear OK. But the images that are portrait (vertical) show up as long (more than the maxheight size) in the randomimage photo on the main page. I'd like for all images to show up as the size of maxwidth and maxheight parameters (250x250, 175x175, etc). You can check it out on the site in the signature. Thoughts or recommendations on this? Second - I'm curious to know if anyone is using the Random Photo Display mod by Graham Chamberlain on TNG v14 or 13? It was last updated 30 June 2018 for TNG v12. Is Mr. Chamberlain still supporting this mod? I'm just asking because I don't want to try it on my test server and blow it up, if you know what I mean.

First, the only reason the Feature Links in admin -> setup -> template settings -> template19 isn't working is because it's missing some css, that's all. ok, I got it working as in the screenshot BUT I want it to be horizontal and above the header brand and and slogan. Hi Everyone I am looking ideally to hide or not see the Photo section in the template. Minimally, collapsing it would be a 2nd choice. I have other plans on how I am presenting my photos. I am using Ver. 14 and template 14, with Robin's "regroup person profile" and the 2 prerequisite mods that go with that. would I edit the personlib.php? with what and where? or something else? I know it might be more complcated than that with intedependences. possible? Appreciate any insight and help with this! Jeff

What else can go wrong with this program??? I wanted to see what a guest sees when accesssing my site so I used the Guest/ Guest credentials and found that my son's media and some of his info is missing for the guests??? I didn't do anything to cause this anomalous situation. Below are screenshots of the site using two different user names and passwords. The left image is the page with Guest credentials the right with Admin creds... What the heck, how can I fix this mess? I shouldn't ask what else can go wrong the LORD knows the whole site could blow up!!!

Hello all. Is it possible to add code to the randomphoto code I have in my template19 index.php. to center the media title, instead of having to do every media item manually? The timeline is showing duplicated events. When I look at the events in the admin section there are no duplicates entries. On the individuals page #1-19 events are duplicated. (there are only 19 events listed on the admin page) So, instead of 19 events there are 38 events. I haven't made any modifications to the code. I'm using version 12.1 and the mod version 12.0.0.10a

Hello all, I would like to be able to use the modification "Public Access Control" by Erik Hoppe (https://tng.lythgoes.net/wiki/index.php/Public_Access_Control) also with version 14. Erik informed me that he has stopped working on and with TNG for health reasons. In the past other developers have already supported. Therefore I turn to you to avoid duplicate work: Does anyone plan to continue the work on the mod or is already busy with it? The installation of the mod breaks under V14 because various jump labels do not fit. I could fix that, however I am not a developer. I would appreciate your feedback. Many greetings Uwe

Hello friends - happy New Year to everybody. I have upgraded and everything went smooth, just followed Darrrin's guidelines and then one MOD after the other. I was almost there. I wanted to come back and check and change some settings in "Add person siblings row", this is the name of my file: "add_person_siblings_row_v12.3.0.7b.cfg", I started from top and checked and made some changes. My backend crashed when I edited (I am quite sure) this parameter: "to show siblings spouses or not". I wanted to set it to "No". I wrote what was needed in the field/box, pushed the button and then I only have a blank screen, where I can of course do nothing. My frontend, that is visible to the whole world is still running fine. Of course I do not have a backup with version 14 files and db (but I have everything from before I started the upgrade)... So how can I handle this the most intelligent way?

In template21 admin - template settings - feature thumbnail 4: I've add this instead of just the image: <a href="getperson.php?peronID=I8&tree=tree1"; <img src="http://localhost/tng/templates/template121/img/Helen1943_4x3.jpg" style="width: 400px; height:300px" title="Helen Mary Zikorus posing in 1943, age 20" alt="Helen Mary Zikorus"></a> What I'm trying to do is when you mouse over the image the image title and alt pop up AND then be able to click on the image and go to the persons page. Am I on the right track with the code above? Right now I can't get it to work. I've been testing this on my localhost, but will add it to the live site so you can see what the deal is. What's happening with this code is a Not Found error. I've tried different paths, but the image can't be found. If I use just the img/Helen1943_4x3.jpg image is viewable but no popup or clickable. Any suggestions, thoughts or advise will be greatly appreciated. I'm going to look at templateconfig.php and see if you can add that code in there.....after lunch!

ok, I'm working on another project on my localhost. Fresh full install (today) tng v3.1.2 , so it's the latest version of randomphoto.php. This is a stand alone tng install, no wordpress. On my live site is standalone tng v3.1.2 UPGRADE (sometime back in july) and randomphoto works fine there. Using the template manager mod, I created a new template from template21 and naming it template31. Everything on that part of this project works fine. EXCEPT the randomphoto.php code. It doesn't work in t21 or the new t31. I've read all the threads concerning this issue and no help there. Can someone please explain what's going on here? And maybe some suggestions how to get it working. Hello, Hoping I can get a bit of help. I've been figuring out a lot on my own, but this one I don't know. Probably looking right at me or I'm too stupid. I'm trying to add cemeteries, but when I do, I get the error message populated in the image below. The Table Database it says doesn't exist, "bonesare..." is listed under setup Database. If that's even where I'm supposed to look. Under my cpanel, public_html, I do not see a "cemeteries" folder like I do with headstones, histories, img, photos, etc. etc. Does that matter? Do I need to define max lines? If so, what is the standard (I do realize it's an ind. preference, but as this is a TNG thing, I don't know, start with 25? 50?)

Well, I can add plenty, but when saving it, it says Forbidden, I Don't Have Access, yadda-yadda. I have replaced the default top menu by a custom menu in topmenu.php. This menu is shown correctly on a PC, but on a mobile phone I still see the default menu. I assumed that there would be a separate 'topmenuformobile.php' (or some such), but cannot locate this. How can I replace the default menu on a mobile phone (hopefully without having to carry out other complicated changes)? I am not using any templates or CMS.

Hi, this is my 1st topic - i hope anyone can help. I am using TNG since few days - i imported from an old 4.x.x Version the data. I installed broadsearch mod - and it works fine. I can search for alternatives names / maiden names etc. The only problem i have is to get it working with showspouse=yes parameter. Both parameters alone work fine - but if i want to use both ... spouse is not showing I looked in the code and i could see that if broadsearch=Y the else part with showspouse will be ignored. I wanted to copy part of the php/sql code. But i am getting tons os errors. Can anyone help ? I am lost with all that UNIONS LEFT JOINS etc. I think a lot of others are also interested in using both parameters. Thank You So Much For Your Help I Really Appreciate It! Kindly Regards Aziz

Hello all. I realize that messing around with genlib.php can get you in some deep trouble, but.... TNG v13.1.1 template 19 - In genlib.php, line 973, there's the 'hook for custom dropdown options' and below that is 'Rick Bisbee's mod' for creating a dropdown. Does anyone know how to utilize those 2 options, or add another dropdown after the INFO dropdown (line 966 of genlib.php). I'm already using customconfig and the 2 cust_text file for a dropdown. This would be one more dropdown called Family Stories with submenus . Any advice, suggestions or criticism will be appreciated. Thanks JP
