tagging direct ancestors of a "stem" ?

Recommended Posts

Nathalie

Is there a way with TNG to define the "stem" of a family tree and therefore to automatically add a tag in front of each person of the tree that is a direct ancestor of this stem ? (ie a person having a SOSA number with regards to the stem)

Some other genealogical softwares/sites do this (for exemple in geneanet : a green circle facing each ancestor of the defined stem)

Thanks in advance

Hello Nathalie,

Michel,

You've likely given us a taste of something many would like in mod form.

Direct ancestor tagging  linked to the current tree stem (root) person  is, to my knowledge, not to be found in available mods.  I use the Bold Ancestor Child Links mod, but it only pertains to bolding  children names who are members of a  'branch' of direct ancestors on the getperson page.

If this logic could be taken further in some way to the ancestor 'text' report, similar to the Living Color Mod, it would extend its usefulness.

I would offer to help beta testing, should you ever reach that point.

Hello Ron,

I just finished to write the mod which permits :

1. the choice of the sosa N°1 (only for admin)

2. trace the sosa in the tree 1 with green bullets (as seen in my previous message)

those green bullets are shown in :

- getperson

- family chart

- family group

- descendance chart (standard, compact, text and register)

Before the mod is finished, i must find the method to automatize the creation

of a new table with wod....

The result on my site tomorrow (only completed in local at this moment)

Best regards

Michel

Michel,

That's very good progress.  BTW...is 'SOSA' is the same as root, stem or beginning person?  I couldn't find a french translation on google.  Oh, and what is 'wod'?

Hello Ron,

wod = mod. Sorry !

Yes, the sosa (Sosa-Stradonitz numbering) is the number of a person in the tree

sosa 1 is the root of the tree ("de-cujus" in latin)

his father as numer 2 , his mother number 3

his great-father (father side) as nr 3, great mother nr 4

his great-father (mother side) as nr 5, great mother as nr 6

and so on...(see image)

In deutsch , sosa is the "ahnentafel numerotation" see wikipedia (in french) : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numérotation_de_Sosa-Stradonitz

This system gives you directly le generation ans the sex of a person in your tree

3th generation begin at 2 ! 3 = 8

4th generation begin at 2 ! 4 = 16

numbers of the mens are divisible by 2, numbers of the girls are odd

Here are some views...

do you want the mod to try it?
