How can I stop Google indexing?

Excuse me if I misread your post, but are you saying that you will lose your domain name if you change hosts? Changing a host is easy to do. You merely ask a new host to have requests to see your website go to your new host and no longer to your old host. This takes a few hours to a few days depending on when the requested change gets into the cycle and how responsive the system is.

What may be time-consuming is having to set up your new website all over again. There are ways for you to download all that you have with your current host and upload it to your new host. I believe that Gustave of SimplyHosting will do that. I do not know if he charges extra. Darrin mentions SimplyHosting on his website. Many people here use SimplyHosting.

Thank you very much for the info. It encourage me to change and it looks like simply hosting will be sufficient enough. They are mentioning a "shared" option which seems to be at a reasonable price of $4.99 per month. I am not to familiar with the terminology but do you think it will be suitable?

If/when we leave our current ISP/host, we will go with SimplyHosting. Darrin mentions SimplyHosting on his website. Yes, I believe SimplyHosting will be suitable for you.

I believe that, for an additional fee, Gustave will move what you have on your current website to your new website at SimplyHosting.

"Shared" hosting means you are sharing the server with other websites. Typically, a fully managed server would cost you around $250 a month, or if you are resourceful and want to handle all the maintenance yourself, from $80 to $150 a month. Any web hosting service that is under those amounts is "shared".

The host may "oversell" both the space and bandwidth on a server based on his judgment of how much people actually use. So they may offer you "unlimited" or huge amounts of bandwidth, but the server itself has a limit too, from 750GB to 4000GB (those are the numbers I've seen, anyway). For a server with 500 sites on it (not unusual), that's from about 2GB to 8GB allotted per site. If the host is allowing more than that, then he is "overselling" the bandwidth. He can do this because he knows very few sites will use up the full allotment they have each month.

But if you get on a server with thousands of other websites, you can run into problems that bring the server down and all the other sites with it. Hosts will sometimes monitor sites closely to prevent too much traffic, even if they have promised "unlimited bandwidth" or something like that. They'll look at mySQL queries, etc. in an attempt to make sure a busy site isn't on a server that is really intended for small personal pages.

You can see how many sites are on a server by putting the domain name in this URL (where "yourdomain.tld" is the domain name):

You'll see that the results give you the number of sites on that IP address.

Some of the hosting companies out there have thousands of sites on each server!

95 sites is not bad at all. My server has 400 sites on it, but mostly static, HTML pages only with just a few "active" ones with php and mySql queries. I've been on servers with 900 sites that worked fine for me, so it all depends on how the hosting company manages the accounts, and what they allow people to do on them (i.e., you don't want to be on the same server as someone with streaming video!)
