DaveT
Note - THIS POST IS INFORMATIONAL ONLY - MYHERITAGE Family Tree Builder ProgramTroubleshooting my gedcom import fails issue, we discovered that the MyHeritage program can export bad "date" data - that is not obvious when viewing dates in the program.Symptom - gedcom import fails before completionSteps to fix:1) Open your gedcom in your favorite text editor and search on "date". Valid dates are in the format "dd mmm yyy" (d=day, m=month, y=year) or "mmm yyyy" or "yyyy" are also ok.2) If you see one in another format, then your gedcom will not import.3) Note the person - open MyHeritage - edit the person (you will either see the date in the wrong format - OR - the date will appear to be correct - doesn't matter which)4) Click on the calendar icon to the right of the date field - verify the date shows correctly there - click ok, and OK again to exit editing the person.5) Repeat the process for each person whose date shows in the wrong format in your text editor.6) Export a new gedcom after you are done - verify dates (if you want to) - import to TNGThis drove us nuts figuring it out - hopefully this post will help others. To date, we have no explanation of how the MyHeritage program can display a date correctly and still export the date in a bad format - oh well.If you need any additional clarification or info, feel free to contact me directly.Dave Triffodave@triffo.net
