GEDCOM 5.5EL Export

Recommended Posts

Marco Fischer

Hello,

First, my english is not so good, but i hope, you understand me.

In TNG is it possible to administrate the event-places. You can add coordinates for mapping.

Unfortunately yo can't export this coordinates in GEDCOM5.5, because there a no tags for this in the specification.

In Germany some genealogy software supported the GEDCOM 5.5 EL (Extended Locations) specification.

See http://wiki-en.genealogy.net/Gedcom_5.5EL

It will be fine, when TNG integrates a export function for 5.5EL, especially for map coordinates.

Example

0 @I31@ INDI

1 NAME Christine Anna /Blum/

2 GIVN Christine Anna

2 SURN Blum

1 BIRT

2 DATE 28 Dec 1863

2 PLAC Barchfeld

3 _LOC @P6@

0 @P6@ _LOC

1 NAME Barchfeld

1 MAP 50.800375N 10.298142E

Regards,

Marco.

Is Gedcom 5.5.EL the same as 5.5.1 Draft? I also would like to have the possibility to eport my geocodes within the gedcom...

I have Darrin sent yesterday recommended pages about the Gedcom-Standard 5.5.1.

A group of about 25 German programmers of genealogy-programms set to work since November 2009 in a German mailing-list about the GEDCOM-Standard 5.5.1 coordinate with each other.

For more informations about Gedcom 5.5.1 see here

It would be nice if TNG soon also supports the standard GEDCOM 5.5.1.

So it would be possible that you can also share the "family name after marriage" in both directions.

Also the exchange of geo-coordinates between other genealogy-programs would be supported better.
