Google's Index pages for my site

I have been following the suggestions in the forums regarding Index pages for search engines. Maybe I am not doing something correct however, after I have made the suggested changes last Wednesday 12 Dec, Google robots indexed my site on 13 Dec.

I am still getting on the indexed pages,

Home: Christman Family Genealogy Website

Last Name:. First Name:. Surnames; HOME; About Me; Acknowledgements; Cemeteries; Change Language; Dates and Anniversaries; Family Group Sheet Submission ...

www.christmanfamily.net/BIO_ChristmanHeinrich1706.php - 8k -

or:

http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.ch...art=20&sa=N

It appears that google is listing the Menu Items on the indexed pages instead of the information pertaining to the individual.

Can anyone help me with this or am I not making any sense?

Dave,

Your making perfect sense. If your site is less than a year old you'll just have to give Google time to figure out that the menu items are not very meaningful for your site. Google can figure this out quickly for some sites and rather slowly for others. I don't know away to speed up this process.

Most likely Google will reduce the internal ranking of your pages until it figures out which pages have unique content. When Google thinks your pages contain the same content (this is a real problem for genealogy pages because the unique material on most pages are just dates and locations compared to a lot of similar boiler plate) Google will keep your pages ranked very low (this used to be referred to as supplemental pages) and it will be difficult for people to find them unless they do a very specific search for something contained on one of your pages. If Google thinks your pages are too similar, it will ultimately remove most of your pages from its index.
