Coat of Arms II

Recommended Posts

I have added this in response to the Dutch based topic above. I have traced our ancestry back to 1620 and have found no evidence of armigerous forebears. This is a link to my own experience of applying for and being granted arms (August 2007) from the College of Arms in London.

Given all the misunderstanding, misrepresentation and misappropriation of arms that seem to go on worldwide and the increased interest in genealogy these days maybe it is time for some form of legislation to be enacted (or in the case of England) resurrected in the matter of arms control. If someone takes my newly granted arms and uses them as his own - he is guilty of, at least, identity theft.

No such thing as a Craxford Family coat of arms!

Update: May 2009

I have also added a series of questions and answers at the end of the article which may help to explain the current situation in the UK

Cheers Alan
