jbayer
I have two custom events for individuals that share the same event name but have different numbers. How can I merge these events?
ajnsmits
Are you talking about the events themselves or the event types? Can you give an example? I think you'll need to solve this in the database.
jbayer
I am referring to the event/attribute types. For example, Type/Description = "Origin" ID 405, and the same type with the same name "Origin" but ID 351. Each of these identically named types relates to several thousand, but different, individuals. They may have originated from successive imports. ajnsmits
Could you post a screenshot of the two events?
jbayer
Thank You. Here is a screenshot.
RickM
@jbayer Just a SILLY question or two.. Do you have more than one tree?? Could these be 'duplicates because of that??
ajnsmits
@jbayer What kind of character is this? It's different from the other one. That's why it looks like there are two identical tags. Are you familiar with phpMyAdmin?
jbayer
The charcter "-" is a hyphen. I am not familiar with phpMyAdmin. I have several trees. But those events belong to only one tree with about 60000 persons.
ajnsmits
@jbayer What is that character then at ID 406 between “Ansiedlung” and “Recherche”? I'll send you an update file and an explanation as soon as possible.
jbayer
Many thanks for the pointers. It turns out that the two hyphens in the two events are not identical. The first hyphen is standard. The one on the next line is thinner, and when rendered in HTML, it appears as "&ndash". Consequently, it is treated as a different event. Now I need to merge them somehow. ajnsmits
@jbayer I'll make a merge mod for you that fixes that. I'll probably send it to you via PM tomorrow, along with instructions.
