HauntedWebby
🏴 Thank You, Knights 🏴 The Wiki of Doom has been updated. Heritage Flags v15.0.4.7 is official. What started with fourteen new features, then fixed six bugs, added split flag system with additional layout modes, and a Settings page that finally makes sense. That’s what happens when you let the testers drive. So let me say this properly. 📜 The Roll of Honor Gerald the Strategist — found the backup crash before anyone else could hit it. Confirmed printing works across two templates and two servers. Methodical, precise, and always the first to report. Liechtenstein’s finest. Katryne the Spark — 154 flag files and counting. Found the tooltip bug, the save confirmation gap, and the button placement issue — all in one post. Tested split flags in every combination. Made Québec fight harder than any province should. Still finding things. Still right every time. The chocolate budget remains under budget. 🍫 Philip the Pathfinder — spotted the transparency issue on split flags instantly. Tested across Template 18, confirmed every fix, and still wants a darker border around England (next version). ajnsmits the Navigator — systematic testing from the Netherlands with beautiful screenshots at 30%, 50%, and 100%. Drew an actual mockup of what he wanted the fade to look like. Broke the Schema buttons in a way that taught us all something. Frisian flags have never looked better. The Quiet Knight — quietly testing on TNG 13 before anyone else sees the code. The collapsed panels exist because of him. The christening fallback exists because he told us about Scottish parish records before 1855. The stacked split exists because he looked at the diagonal and said “that’s not right.” He was right. He’s always right. 🗺 What’s on the Wiki of Doom Now The Heritage Flags wiki page has been fully updated: Revision history through v15.0.4.7 and v13.2.1.2 Settings documentation rewritten; four sections matching the admin layout Features list updated with split flags, suppress, christening fallback, backup/restore, and print fix How It Works rewritten to cover the full resolution path including split logic Database tables section updated with correct clan_hf_* names Mod files section updated (no more config file reference) 🚀 What Comes Next v15.0.4.8 — The Great Migration. The 490+ hardcoded mappings move to a database table, ISO 3166-2 subdivision codes arrive, and a Bulk Update tab lets you batch-apply state and region flags. Darker shadows that act like boarders. Maybe, side-by-side flags, birth and death personal options for the split flags. That’s the next chapter. But for now the flags fly. The settings survive. The split works. The print link is clickable. The backups exist. And the Knights of the Tangled Tree made every single one of those things better. Thank you. All of you. Even the ones who haven’t spoken up yet; I see the download counts. You’re out there. You’re using it. That matters. 🏴 The flags fly because of all of you. 🏴 LeAnna

In the instructions I shall "Visit Admin → Miscellaneous → Heritage Flags and click Install Database Schema". The problem is that I can´t find Heritage Flags in Miscellaneous, how do I find this to click Install Database Schema? Leif

tngrlkrz
Hello, Took Heritage Flags v15.0.4.7 for a test drive on TNG 15.0.5b1. I use the Research Tools mod and have been unable to make the upper right link functional when Heritage Flags mod is installed. Hovering the area only presents the Flag/Country name. Tried the recommended 'increase minimum height', but even at the default of 250px, the flag is far to large and takes too much header area. Best height for me is 90-100px. Tried at every height size and no luck. This behavior persists across the templates I have tested. Anyone using the Research Mod have a solution for this? tngrlkrz
When I saw the introduction of the Heritage Flags mod in the forum, I thought it isn't for me because my data is PC based and my tree is periodically cleared and all data imported. I thought that would undo some of the mod's stored data. But since all the settings, mapping, and overrides are kept outside TNG, all associated tables are retained. So in addition to being safeguarded from TNG upgrades, the isolated tables also safeguard rebuilt trees. So Kudos to LeAnne for the mod design. With that said, Katryne was kind enough to share a compromise solution for the Research Tool mod issue, which enables placing the mod's Research Tool outside the header area. However, placing it outside the header area looks awkward and doesn't work on all templates. The issue I see is the Heritage Mod impacts the entire header space, regardless of whatever settings one might choose, or what size flag is set. I see this by hovering anywhere from the left to right margin of the screen and down from the upper menu to the lower menu. In the image shows the 2 rows of links the Research Tools mod presents when expanded completely. You see a tooltip on the left displaying the name of the flag, even though the flag is at the far right. It seems an unnecessarily large area for the mod to impact. It prevents some links from working in those areas, and moving the research links anywhere to the left of the flag leaves 'dead' links. Is it possible to fix that by either restricting the impacted area or being able to move the flag's space down in the header area? Hello Ron, Yes, Research Tools and Heritage Flag (HF) doesn't work well with each other. The person that developed Research Tools gave Katryne the workaround and it has since been incorporated into the HF mod. Uninstall, upload these two files, reinstall. If it works for you then I'll add to the next update. Let me know heritage_flags_v15_0_4_7.cfg clan_heritage_flags.css
tngrlkrz
Hi LeAnna, I already had Scott's Research Mod with placement options installed. I uninstalled the Herotage Flags mod, saving the original cfg and css files, and then putting the new files in place and reinstalled the Heritage Flaga mod with your 1-line changes in the css and cfg files. The change from 'none' to 'auto' for pointer event in css and the other change in cfg (regarding titile?) did effect the removal of an active hover 'name' appearing except over the flag area, which was encouraging. Unfortunately, any links in the header area to the left of the flag area will have disabled hyperlinks. Your mod still has some hold on that area. Katryne
Well I managed a correct display, except with very small screens, where RT gets mixed with the menu, but never with the flags. Also, my flags are rather small and kept to the right. It's a Nr 16 template, modified by mytngstyle.css.

Unfortunately, the templates I use do not have that space available, especially if you click the 'gear' and a second row of links appear with RT. Incidentally, your flags are increasing the space taken before the actual person's data is displayed below the lower menu. Ron

That's why I wait patiently for LeAnna to implement the side by side stack option. The 2 flags on the same line will loose less empty space. tngrlkrz
The special Research Tools enhancement indeed permits moving the link almost anywhere between or outside the menu rows, but none will work because the Heritage Flags mod has some sort of styling lock on the space between the menu rows that prevents active hyperlinks, the the area outside that area is too small on my templates. tngrlkrz
Ah, I see that the Split Image Size % is what can cause vertical separation. Somewhat puzzling setting and description for me. Thanks, Ron
HauntedWebby
Hey all, Quick update. The new version for a few fixes and tweaks ... including side-by-side flags & a special new option for someone special is taking a little longer than I expected. I accidently made a coding boo-boo and that would have compromised the entire system. My testing software caught, and I'm fixing and will retest. I should be done this weekend. HauntedWebby
The mod update is done. It's being tested and security verified. Today is Mother's Day in the US, so today I'm with my kids. I'll update how the ATF worked tomorrw.
Katryne
Hello ! My great-great-uncle Émile was born at sea and died at sea. Does anyone have any ideas for a flag—preferably an SVG file—to represent the sea? Thank you ! https://clan.chauvigne.info/getperson.php?personID=I2725&tree=kati

Katryne
Many thanks. It should be adequate, but for now, I just cannot add it to the mod. I've already added a flag for Africa with a filename I made up. I'tell you when it's done.
