Morgan
Is anyone aware of a way to upload a list of places via spreadsheet to TNG outside of a gedcom upload? I created a google maps file that has over 2000 historic homeplace locations, old cemeteries, post offices, schools, etc. I have gps coordinates, as well as source notes for each one. I'd like to be able to add to TNG if possible. Anyone know if this is possible? Thanks in advance. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1dnKbmZ8P0Pf4gmY022yhDvLaoVPqgK_1&ll=35.40698331122725%2C-79.58391956579007&z=
Rob Severijns
You could try to do it via PHPMyAdmin. Import them into the tng_places table. It depends on the format the spreadsheet is in. CSV, SQL, XML etc if the import is possible
GOGGS
Nice map! @Rob Severijns is right; since you already have your data in spreadsheets, importing is not a problem. You also have the info separated by type of place as well, and you can use the placelevel field to differentiate them. If you're good with a bit if coding on the TNG platform, there's quite a bit you can do with creating your own map pages on top of TNG. I've separated some of these (restaurant reviews, friends and neighbors) from the main genealogical places data by using a different value in the gedcom field. Coincidentally (for others that might read this as well), I've had an email exchange with Darrin about the Google Maps platform. The current system uses a previous version of the API(s), and people have noticed warnings about deprecation, etc. The maps I've been building on the latest API's (and using the TNG infrastructure) are very cool. Fine control over markers, state/county/etc. boundary lines/layers, and lots more. I'm sure the TNG platform will be heading this way (although I haven't heard from Darrin on that yet). I can share some of this if folks are interested using 1:1 messages. Also, the new quotas for the API's are ridiculously high/generous (also for those wondering). I have a table of them from the main Maps API below. With 300 map loads per minute per user, and unlimited per day, there will be no issues for non-commercial users... Leif Sweden
One way is to link your map to your template, I tried to do that with my own template 18 and that works fine ( lein.se/familjenjohnson/index.php ) at the top of the first page. I don´t know if that is what you want. I wrote "Historic homeplaces, https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?ll=35.406983311227236%2C-79.58391956579007&z=12&mid=1dnKbmZ8P0Pf4gmY022yhDvLaoVPqgK_1 " which took me to your map. I will of course delete it from my page after you have seen it. Leif

Leif Sweden
I can see at your site your link to Ancestry (https://www.ancestry.se/profile/006ea9d4-0001-0000-0000-000000000000) which is very nice. What I understand your guests will see the same info as me, witch I with an Ancestry account, will see. How did you create that link/info where you can get this info without an account? My own link will show Ancestry but even as a guest with login will reach there as logged in. How do I change that like you have done?
