Wondering how people have things set up. Since there is no more supp[ort for win10, I'll run it on linux. Possibly fedora. Been out of the scene for a few years fighting colon cancer (colonoscopies aren't bad compared to the real thing which I have, so if you help in that area, shoot me an email) Things looking for: Choice of Linux "distro, using apache2, nginx, or ?? web server, PHP version, newest seems to be 8.3 and any special little 'tweaks,' for performance, ease of use, etc....) If you need As soon as I can get it to work on our network, I will change the dns and self-host (I figure 1250 down, and 12300 up should be fine for now.) Getting it online s the easy part though. The hardware behind it is modest, but workable. forget the board, . CPU is Ryzen 5 5500, amd Radeon 7600 video. 50Gb nvme for boot. 1 Tb sata SSD and a 3Tb spinner will be used for storage, samba for home file sharing and possibly plex or jelly fin for video if I can find my DVDs to rip.. GOGGS Posted November 22, 2025 Report Share Posted November 22, 2025 I've been impressed with how easy AWS is (and their version of Linux) for over 5 years now. It sounds like you're more into managing the hardware and bits locally though. I'm running Ubuntu on my laptop and that's working great, but not hosting from there...
