RottenSod
Hi all, I have a number of different, unconnected trees on my site and would like to be able to allow anyone to be able to switch between them. I like the idea of "Each Tree Its Template" which works ok for people who are logged in, but I've often wondered why there is no menu item to swap between trees. Or have I missed something? I welcome any comments.
Newfloridian
Hi: I have two trees in my own website: one, the main family tree has a number of different branches (seven); the other is a pictorial representation of my University Year Book. For many years I have presented the results of my research using illustrated articles put together using historytemplate.php (currently over 500 of these). The articles are grouped into sections colour coded according to the branch of the family they refer to. The magazine has a front page, the left hand coloumn of which has a series of colour coded links to the relevant section, a single link to the contents page and a further link which leads to the Year Book. You can see how this all looks here: The Extended Craxford Family Web Site Obviously I don't know whether you would find this suitable for your needs. RottenSod
Hi Alan, I appreciate your input, but this is not quite what I'm looking for. All I really need, perhaps, is a dropdown menu to select a particular tree and effectively set that tree as the default one. I think I feel a mod coming on. Cheers, Phil. GOGGS
You're probably right about a mod or customization. From the Info menu, you can choose a tree, but that just takes you to summary info for a tree. If you could change that, would you have a selection that took you to a default or "anchor" person in that tree? The Advanced search allows you pick a tree/branch as part of the search options. I changed my search link so that it always goes there first... GOGGS

Perhaps the lowest individual ID number for the particular tree or, with the help of a cookie, the last individual looked at by the viewer? 4 hours ago, GOGGS said: The Advanced search allows you pick a tree/branch as part of the search options. The advanced search retains the tree/branch selection if you go back to it, but if you subsequently use the normal search, it uses the default tree. Perhaps an option in the mod to set the (advanced) search tree as the default would be useful? Thanks for the input Goggs, much appreciated.
