new gedcom import shows all people as LIVING

I have used TNG for several years, importing a gedcom file from Reunion. Upgraded to current version of TNG 15.03 and imported as usual. All people are shown as LIVING, i.e., no names, regardless of birth or death date. I can't find any setting in Reunion or TNG that would make this happen.

Not sure why you needed to post the same question twice…but it looks like you didn’t backup your living flags as indicated here…

I don’t do that, instead just as the import finishes, the pop-up fuel gauge has a link “More options” (that’s easy to miss) that lets you flag living people. If you forget to to this, you can login to Admin, Utilities, look for the tab “Post-import Utilities” and click on “Refresh Living”. I think that will solve it.

Find all individuals who have no death date and who were born recently enough to still be alive, then mark them as "Living". The exact number of years is dictated by the option on the Import Settings page labeled "If no death date, assume deceased if older than". Also mark any families as Living where these individuals are listed as a spouse. Conversely, this utility will also find all individuals who have a death or burial date, or who were not born within that timeframe, and mark them as deceased.

P.S…I don’t get your comment about “no names”?

I did the Refresh Living as described, but it made no difference. My comment about "no names" was to indicate that no entries in TNG are showing the names in my database, only the word "Living".

And my apologies for posting twice. I didn't mean to.

Can you post a screenshot of your export settings for Reunion. Alternatively, there’s a very recent discussion about Reunion in this forum that has screenshots. One issue seems to be to NOT export the Gedcom as a flat file.

I note you are using an older gedcom format. I’m away from home for 24 hours, so can’t test…but it shouldn’t be causing the odd issue you are having

I read through that thread, but it doesn't help, as my problem is not sources, but people. The gedcom export from Reunion also allows Gedcom 7.0,, which I tried, with the same result.

Pointing you to that thread was only to point out others export settings.

Are you able to export a gedom, open it with the text app on your Mac and show us the entry details for one person? Just to show their name etc is there before import.

I got the solution from Darrin Lythgoe: Go to Admin/Setup/General Settings/Privacy and set the "Show Living Data" option to "Depending on user rights"

Phew! As I was stumped. Loved seeing the gedcom data that you displayed. I used to live and teach in London, and worked near Southfields for a time and had friends that used to live there also.
