Rob Severijns
For those interested. As of today there's a new mod available named Bot Manager It was created by @Steve1200 and adds an extra line of defense against abusive bots that create heavy traffic and slow down your website. This TNG mod was written to address unrestricted bot access and has options block all access, allow limited access or selective bot access and works with Google reCaptcha v2 or the Image Captcha mod. Katryne
I tried to write to Steve today, but was not able to solve the captcha on his site. Maybe I am a robot, after all.

Rob Roy
I have two questions: 1. Will Google's bot still be able to work? 2. Will this affect registered and non-registered people from viewing the website? Thanks, Sailor Rob
Rob Severijns
12 minutes ago, Rob Roy said: 1. Will Google's bot still be able to work? Yes, in the mod options set Allow selected Bots to True and just add the bot name of the bot you want to allow indexing. 16 minutes ago, Rob Roy said: 2. Will this affect registered and non-registered people from viewing the website? No, the priveliges stay the same as indicated in the TNG privacy settings and User settings. All that happens is that before access is granted to the website the visitor/user has to pass the captcha challenge. Bot usualy can't pass the challenge. Rob Roy
Thank you, Dutch Rob, When someone goes to Google and searches for a name, and that name appears in my database, I want a link displayed. You wouldn't happen to know the name of that bot? Sailor Rob
Katryne
Googlebot is the bot name that I use for bot management.

Rob Severijns
What happens is when somone does a google search the result will be presented as a link to your website. When that link is clicked, the first page presented is the captcha challenge. After passing it they can navigate to that search result. You can test that yourself by following the search result. TwelvE
The download link in the TNG wiki leads to a page saying "The selected attachment does not exist anymore."
Steve1200
A not defined variable warning was discovered, that may occur on some servers when using Bot Manager with Image Captcha. Google reCaptcha and Hcaptcha are not affected. The mod should be available later today or tomorrow after final testing.
