Folks,

does anyone know the status of these mods??  I've reached out to Robin, but I've not gotten a response.  I've worked with Robin before on mod issues and he's been great to work with - but he seems to be out of pocket right now???

  1. Admin cemeteries search
  2. Admin reports search
  3. Regroup person profile
  4. Regroup person-date place

thank you for any thoughts.

As you have learned, Robin has been "absent" for quite some time now.

I have "adopted" a few of his Mods and made them work with TNG 15 and fixed a bunch of the PHP warnings they generated - the Mods that I use. These have been updated on the TNG Wiki.

I don't use any of those you list, and so have no interest in adopting them.

In general Robin's Mods are very complex and at least for me difficult to understand what's going on.

As Roger mentioned, Robin's mods are complicated.  The two listed above, if I remember correctly, were part of a 'system' of mods that required an underlying framework that Robin also developed.  Robin and I had to resolve some mod conflicts over the years.

@wingfield My personal opinion:  Probably.

Because of the Mod Blocks framework Robin developed, few of the other mod developers are likely to tackle his mods, and unfortunately Robin's been absent from the community for almost a year now.

I'm not a coder, not at all, but I did work on Robin's mods as a translator into French. I had a lot of trouble with the language strings alone, but I did it for about ten of his mods anyway. But when he asked me to translate his tutorials/explanations/wiki pages, I didn't even finish the first one because I didn't understand. Robins' mods are very complex and bear no resemblance to the coding of other developers' mods. I don't think any other coder will have the courage to take on Robin's mod updates.

Wingfields, if you want to shorten the page, make it denser or simpler, search in the other techniques and mods. For example, in TNG configuration, open the people page for personal information only, or use mods that collapse siblings or regroup events and so on

 @Katryne yeah, I'll explore some other mods.  didn't know that TNG configuration could possibly do this stuff.  thank you for the thoughts.

@Bill Herndon - looks like 2 of you feel the complexity of the mod makes someone else taking over a non starter.  thank you for the comments.

I agree with the rest of the folks; Robin's mods are both wonderful and invariably complex.  I salvaged a couple of them, though with some php warnings yet to be removed, but unfortunately don't use the mods you mentioned.  He was very skilled but unconventional, able to do things in a way no other developer even thought of.  He had many ideas and unfinished projects.  His 'mod settings' mod was to be an umbrella for his mods, but introduced hooks to the mods that are hard to remove. I was able to resurrect that mod so that his textplus charts mod would install, and I use the mod manager compare mod as well.  I had to abandon a couple others, the admin media search and admin branches mods

I find Robin easy to work with, having helped in testing some his mods.  Above all, hoping Robin is in good health.
