ebelew
Lot's of conversation on a DNA section to a genenalogy website. This is a good shot at it. Let me know. Feedback please. I know we've talked about different kinds of ways to do it, but this one caught my attention. Web result pages with a DNA Admin kit behind it. Capable (I think) to hook into TNG!http://www.ballew.familydna.netThese are the results pages. It's a php/mySQL admin kit back end that organizes DNA groups and participants and produces these pages.Very easy to use, but remember it's in Beta!!!! Not finished yet.Eddy
sjwinslow
Eddy,How do you represent marker differences within a group? Will marker differences be shown as different colors? How much can the lables be customized? Are they hard coded?I realy like the clean look.Steve
ebelew
Right now at this early stage we don't represent the marker diferences with a color. It's coming but there are other features we have to finish. The admin kit at this stage just lets you put in the kits and their marker values, compare kits, create groups and add kits to the groups. The labels, (I think I know what you're talking about) are doing a couple of things. clicking on the kit# will be able to show you a genealogy tree for that group. Clicking on a "Y" in the web site column will send you to the website of that participant, if they have one. Clicking on the name wil let you send them an email and ask questions. All this by filling in info in the admin kit and it populating the website.I hope I understood the questions. Man it's made my job easier....EddyEddy,How do you represent marker differences within a group? Will marker differences be shown as different colors? How much can the lables be customized? theKiwi
For me clicking the kit number results in an error message...404 Site Not Foundhttp://www.ballewgenealogy.org/&?PHPSE...f0002#109ailto:The requested URL /& was not found on this serverIt looks like the end of that is supposed to be a "mailto" link?Roger
ebelew
Some people I have not put in their email address in the admin kit. So only the mailto: will pop up. Also I need to get permission from the kit owner to post their pedigree and therefore the kit url may not work. (and I'm working on the best way to do that.)I think John (the participant) should work on both.Remember, we're still beta. I just wanted you guys to be the first. Some features we're working on and some aren't there. I really appreciate the feedback. Hope to have a "demo" of the admin kit soon.Thx, EddyFor me clicking the kit number results in an error message...404 Site Not Foundhttp://www.ballewgenealogy.org/&?PHPSE...f0002#109ailto:The requested URL /& was not found on this serverIt looks like the end of that is supposed to be a "mailto" link?Roger

sjwinslow
Hey, its looking good. I really like the format and the look. I noticed a minor problem with the DNA Marker titles shifted to the left using IE6 but I'm sure that's just formatting.Congrats!Steve
ebelew
Interesting. Doesn't do it on my IE6. Can you get me a screen shot? I'll look and see what it might be....Eddy
