TNG was working great on the old host using the Kloosterman method. I am trying to set TNG back up using this tutorial, https://www.tngsitebuilding.com/blog/genealogywebsites/uncategorized/moving-your-tng-site-to-a-new-host Is the “Express” option on the readme.html following steps 1 through 7? I couldn't get the permissions to work at first so I skipped 1 through 5 and entered the data database info and got a connection to the database. Now when I click on permissions it says the following: Permissions could not be set for these files: backups, gedcom (755 / rwxr-xr-x). Please set them manually. I don't think everything is set up correctly. I can log in to the admin area and all my info is there. I can't log in with any users. I may not be approaching this right and any help would be great. I have not migrated to a new host, but reading Darrin's blog it sounds more like it is written for one doing their own migration and a full install to establish your new site. I can navigate administration well but have problems with permissions. Mods are not working and I think it has to do with permissions. Trying to reinstall mods I get this message, Check permissions, must be writable. Unable to write to /home/customer/www/oursentimentaljourney.net/public_html/genealogy/ I am thinking I need to get through steps 3-7 of the readme.html but getting that error when hitting Set Permissions: Permissions could not be set for these files: backups, gedcom (755 / rwxr-xr-x). Ken Roy Posted March 21, 2023 Report Share Posted March 21, 2023 If they migrated TNG, TNG is likely installed, so you should not have to do a full install. Try going to the TNG root folder and open your config.php file using an ASCII text editor. Maybe the File Manager on your site can be used for this. Find the $rootpath = Change it to $rootpath = ""; (in other words, make sure it is blank since the rootpath is likely different on this new site) Save the config.php file TNG will rebuild it when you access your site.
