Hi Everyone!

I am getting maybe 20% of my gedcom with media/medialinks

and photos/associated medialinks appearing in TNG.

 

For example I might get my mom's marriage cert in event and in photos get her house she grew up in,

but no profile, and 8 other event photos, and at least 20 in the photo section of various photos of her and census records, etc.

 

On the other hand her mother has all showing in the correct place 100% complete.

I have done imports of :

FTM2019 (Gedcom)===>TNG

ANC===>RM (Gedcom)===>TNG

ANC===>RM (Tree)===>FH (Gedom w/plugin for TNG)===>TNG

all with the same results.

 

In the interface for RM, FH, the individual page, etc all look correct, and when I checked the medialinks and associated medialinks

they were all correctly there and linked to the correct image/filenames.

 

Each time I have prepped before importing a gedcom to TNG by:

1. utilities =>optimize/backup all tables

2. setup =>created tables

3. utilities=>restore all tables

EXCEPT

address, children, citation, families, events, media, medialinks, notes, notelinks, people and repositories.

As mirrored on FHUG,

here is what I have for anyone more here on the TNG boards,

that might have a clue what is going on .....

So
1. I followed the steps (for FH setup) and upload my media files from Export to my media folder on my server.
2. I uploaded the gedcom from the export folder to my server to load into TNG.
3. I keep openmaps and the bare essentials of bot protection mods etc. in TNG.
4. I set the config. in setup and import setup as described in the FH articles.
5. I imported media via media folder.
6. I generated thumbnails.

Still, as well as RM or FTM gedcoms, the FH export gedcom had the same problematic effect
of medialinks lost in transtation. I have included a number of screenshots that have filenames to help describe what they are.

So Everyone,

Even with The Gedcom Converter for FTM now working for Ver. 14,

I get the same problem.

In FTM, RM, FH

ALL the medialinks and associated medialinks are attached seamlessly to the media.

I still can't figure out if ALL 3 programs are exporting a gedcom missing the links

OR 

TNG is not catching something on the import side.

Robin, I did read your help on the converter, and I didn't change any setting from what the default

you had.

Anyone got a clue how to solve or proceed with this problem???

Here is the GEDCOM Section for Joan BONNER ,

that is missing photos in the photo section that should be there. I am not fluent in gedcomese,

I have marked the section near the end where the photos seem to appear (but not in my TNG tree)

after 3 different imports RM, FH, and FTM gedcoms. 

All from a tree with very little difference from before ver. 14

Ver. 13 had all imported correctly.

You need to look further down the GEDCOM file to the section that has all the 

1 OBJE

listed out - each one of them should contain information about the "object" - a media item - like description, caption, and path to the file.

If I understand GEDCOM correctly, those are references to Media objects which must be defined elsewhere in your GEDCOM.  A media object definition should look something like this:

Try searching your file for strings such as 'jpg',  'jpeg',  'pdf' or  'png' etc.  And see if you can find structures similar to the example above.  In particular you should find lines similar to below except the xxx will be an actual number.

You did not say if this is the GEDCOM generated by  your Gedcom Converter for FTM or if it is the GEDCOM coming directly from FTM.  Make sure you check in both.  

If you cannot find them in either, then there may be an issue with the export options or the media is not linked properly in FTM.  Make sure are you checking the Media files option when exporting from FTM.

I see that you are also maintaining this discussion in the FHUG forum.  So I am a bit confused if the GEDCOM to which you refer is coming from FH or from FTM.  If it is generated by  FH then disregard my advice above.

I have a post in the FHUG forums; as Mike @ FHUG suggested that... since I had been trying ,

with issues to export via FH to TNG as well;

to see if I could get a proper gedcom.

Still no dice.

As to the media object something like this:
