HerbKilby
I was testing TNG and found that the "soundex of Last Name" under advanced search does not work properly:Examples:Search for soundex K000URL=http://lythgoes.net/genealogy/search.php?lnqualify=soundex+of&mylastname=K100&fnqualify=contains&myfirstname=&nnqualify=contains&mynickname=&tqualify=contains&mytitle=&sfqualify=contains&mysuffix=&bpqualify=contains&mybirthplace=&byqualify=equals&mybirthyear=&dpqualify=contains&mydeathplace=&dyqualify=equals&mydeathyear=&mybool=AND]Search for soundex K100Both yield the same exact 16 names from Darrin's site.[
Darrin Lythgoe
Herb,Maybe you misunderstood how the soundex search works. If you enter a last name and choose to search by soundex, it will convert whatever you entered into a soundex code and do likewise for all the names in the database. If you just enter "K000" or "K100" (I assume those are soundex codes themselves?) what you get is the results from converting those codes to soundex codes. Instead, go to my site (http://lythgoes/genealogy) and try first searching for "blakely" with the standard "contains" in front of it. You should get 2 results. Then do the search on "blakely" again but choose "soundex" instead of "contains". Now you should see 60 results for many different names whose soundex equivalents match that of "blakely".Darrin
