Myles D-W Posted July 7, 2022 Report Share Posted July 7, 2022 Hi Folks, I'm new to TNG and I'm in the process of transferring my old (handbuilt) family history to TNG which is much more polished and easy to maintain than my effort. I'm sure I will have various questions which I hope to ask here but here one: Where would you link bits of general history for a family, stuff that relates to the whole family rather than an individual? Take this text for example: The Jollies were French, Huguenots, who left France as a result of the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis XIV in 1685. These persecuted Protestants went to Scotland, some of them to Perth and Edinburgh. The Jollies became 'Writers to the Signet' which was a Society of Law Agents in Scotland. The Jollies settled in Carlisle from Dumfries-shire in the late 18th century and bacame a well known family of printers, stationers and booksellers. They were members of the Carlisle (Fisher Street) Presbyterian Church until the early 19th century when Francis (husband of Margaret, nee Routledge) became Anglican. There are lots of Jollies in my family tree and I don't really want to link this to all of them. Any ideas or norms that people use here? The option of (my!) choice would be historytemplate.php. I use an History (a kind of media, listed in the top menu "Media") for that and link it to any member of the tree who is concerned.
