Collapse Notes Display issue

Recommended Posts

KevyNC

There appears to be a display issue with collapse_notes_v13.0.3.3a

It does not appear to be browser related as I tried 3 different browsers. (Result below for Chrome/Windows)

pages that do not have collapse notes will display full width as expected --- just wondered if this was a known issue and/or conflict of some sort

Looks like this only applies to notes with 50 char or more and or notes linked to headstones.

Seem to remember I had a similiar issue years ago but can't remember the solution. Need to check the forum to see if I asked a question about display issues.

  1. Have you tried upgrading to PHP 8+
  2. Have you contacted @Michel KIRSCH and explaned the issue

EDIT: I tried to install the mod myself (to test it) but it generated a "cannot install". I will contact @Michel KIRSCH and address my error with him.

The collapse_notes_v13.0.3.3a mod installs and works fine on my site. I set mine to 10 so the notes are always collapsed. My notes are in a separate section and i changed the wording a bit since Notes are always collapsed.

On TNG 13.1.2, tested the Collapse Notes mod on various long notes on various events and could not duplicate the problem KevyNC is having.  Have you tried having *only* the Collapse Notes mod installed to rule out interaction from another mod?

Ron and Jim,

Kevin is running in a WordPress environment so maybe there is a conflict with the javascript or css used.  Just a dumb question from a non Word Press user

Apperently the mods Collapse_notes_v13.0.3.3a by @Michel KIRSCH  and Move_notes_above_map_v13.0.0.1 by @bhemph don't install together.

Installing either one first results in a "Cannot install" for the other

Don't think many people will use both the mods at the same time but still.

Hi All !

I'm back...

I was able to reproduce the problem here.
It seems to be related to the presence of a media related to the event...
I'm looking into it. Please be patient.

If someone can confirm...

Michel

Hi Michel,

If you need testing I'm gladly willing to help.

Thanks Rob.

The issue appears when a media is attached to an event and IS DISPLAYED

if the checkbox "Show" is not checked, all is fine.

Collapse notes is an old Mod and I have to go back deep into the code to understand what's going on...😖

Good thought, however The TNG runs independently on a subdomain so Wordpress would not impact TNG or vice a versa

@Michel KIRSCH

Yes, I believe most of my media would have the SHOW box checked.  The GEDCOM  comes from a RM8 export.

Let me know if you need anything else from me, and appreciate the work you have done on the mods.

I sent an e-mail to Brett to fix the problem.

The code he moves with its Mod is not the same as the original code, which causes the problem.

I have added this to a couple of other Mod issues. Family and long work days have meant I only have enough time to check emails at the moment. Hopefully the next week will enable time to fix these issues.

Thanks Michel, I will look at the file you dent me as time permits.

Thanks Michel,

Hi Brett !

There is only one word added to your 13.0.0.1 version ("normal" at line 59 of the cfg file)
