Podo
I'm not sure if I picked the right category to post this in, so feel free to move it or let me know and I'll repost. I'm exporting a GEDCOM from Legacy which doesnt appear to support Collections so that everything is labeled as PHOTO in the Gedcom. I tried manually changing "2 _TYPE PHOTO" to "2 _TYPE HEADSTONE" or DOCUMENT ( are those spelled correctly for the import?) in the gedcom before importing but as far as I can see it doesnt make a difference ( they still are being accessed from the PHOTO folder) Currently I have my TNG Local Photo/Headstone/Document path all set to "D:\sync\Sync - Gene\" . I have all the pictures with sub-sub-sub folders under the PHOTO folder which works fine but I would like to move some to the proper Headstone and Document folders. I have tried, keeping the exact same folder structure as it is under PHOTO but it doesnt work. which is why I am assuming its the way Im trying to edit the GEDCOM. Am I missing something or what am I'm doing the wrong?
theKiwi
If you have the headstone photos in a folder called headstones that is the same folder as specified in TNG Admin, TNG will recognise that they are headstone as they're imported. Otherwise if you have them under the photos folder TNG assumes photo. Take a look at this article in the TNG Wiki as to what TNG is expecting - does Legacy let you have that setup on your local computer? https://tng.lythgoes.net/wiki/index.php?title=Import_Media_Using_GEDCOM Roger
Podo
I had read through that a few times and set TNG up that way and do have the headstone pictures in the headstone folder which is why I was Wondering what Exactly the GEDCOM should say, that wiki shows an example of the gedcom line with PHOTO, but not with HEADSTONE or DOCUMENT so I wasnt sure I was changing it properly. Strangely Legacy does not offer collections for Headstones but it does allow for Documents.. and I just now figured out my sample family I was using to experiment with I had setup a little wrong-sort of, that being that I took picture of documents and labeled those as documents in legacy, however since they were JPG, Legacy changed them to PHOTO in the GEDCOM, when I was trying to maually change the gedcom to read DOCUMENT it does turn out I was wrong, it should be DOC .. so now I have Documents working, I just have to find out how the gedcom should label HEADSTONE becasue HEADSTONE doesnt appear to work and legacy does not have an option for that
theKiwi
There is no GEDCOM syntax for HEADSTONE. You might try "head" as the type and see if that works - TNG is set to recognise that as a TYPE it seems All my headstone images are labelled in the GEDCOM file as PHOTO, but because they're in the headstones folder, TNG recognises that they're headstones and so puts them in the Headstones collection without me doing anything. If the headstones folder is inside the photos folder, you would need to tell TNG that the path for headstones is photos/headstones I think. Can you copy and paste a line or two here. Roger

Roger Roger- 1st - I want to thank you very much for your help and patience with this!! Although I had tried what you suggested previously, I tried again- no luck- So I made a gedcom with 1 person and started messing around with differnt paths and folder names. This doesnt make sense to me and I really did not spend much time verifying but I think my problem may be using a folder name with "sync". What I found is if I removed it , things worked, put it back they didnt. Simpy change "sync" to "syn" and it would work again.. Maybe thats a reserved word or something, I'm not sure but hopefully I'l be able to continue on now Thanks again for your help!
