Age at Marriage mod

Recommended Posts

Leif Sweden

Our "guru" Michel,

That mod sounds attractive to my tree, some questions:

  1. Where can I find the mod?
  2. When installing, is there a special way to install (uninstall all mods first or ...)?
  3. I Sweidsh a language within the mod already?

Thanks in advance.
Leif

1. Find it where you found the rest of your installed mods, on the TNG wiki.  For this mod, its this link Age_at_marriage. Log in is required to download the mod. If you like it and keep the mod installed, register on the same wiki page under 'sites using this mod' section.

2. No special way, just install it.  Look over the Edit Options, there are many.

3.Swedish is not included in the  mod.  You may wish to contribute it to Michel.  See earlier post for the text strings.

Thanks for information.

Michel,
Here is the Swedish text for your mod Age at Marriage:

$text['mahe'] = "Han :";
$text['mashe'] = "Hon :";
$text['mahewas'] = "Han var";
$text['mashewas'] = "Hon var";
$text['marriedage'] = "Ålder vid giftermål";
$text['mamonth'] = "månad";
$text['mamonths'] = "månader";
$text['old'] = "gammal";
$text['marsince'] = "Gift ";
$text['marduring'] = "Gifte sig ";
$text['mamax'] = "mindre än";

Best regards
Leif

most people used two first names, and sometimes even more

For the version 5, i change the behaviour of the parameter 2) in the list.

Is this explanation clear enough for you?

=> Set to 1, this parameter display the first part of the firstname instead the pronoun He/She. Set on 2, the 2 first parts of the firstname, and so on...

Does it allow for 3 parts? For instance, Maria de Fátima? All in the 'firstname' field, of course.

Otherwise, the explanation seems perfectly clear.

There is no limit. You can set it to 100, which means that all the parts of the firstname will be displayed...

Thank you, Michel! Installed and running smoothly.

The only thing I noticed is that if I try the option to remove the space before the separator (for instance when using the ASCII for ';' or ',') nothing happens, the space before is still there.

Otherwise everything is perfect, the option for displaying more than one 'first names' is working beautifully.

Hi,

It doesn't work for me. When install age at marriage and active it my homepage gets blank. Should both directories be uploaded in mods directory? I've uninstalled several times but with same results. Nothing at my homepage - blank. When I uninstall, everything works...tried other themes, same thing.

Thanks

Hi Tobbe,

As possible,

1) can you switch to English language so i can understand your image

2) Let see ALL the list of the Mod's install.

If it is not enough, it will be necessary to give me an Admin access to your site.

Thanks

Michel

You must unzip the zip file directly in your "mods" directory

So the cfg file AND the "age_at_marriage_5" directory are in your "mods" directory

Yes, I have unzipped and uploaded to mods directory. I upload the whole mods window soon, and change to english.

Did you FTP the folder and all its contents to the mods folder?  I don't read your language but it looks like it cannot find the source, which is in the contents of the age_at_marriage_v5 folder.  You need to transfer the mod subfolder and all its contents to the TNG mods folder

Michel is helping me out.

No problem Ken, the file is "kopierad" :-)

It's a problem of function's double declaration.

Probably a bad uninstall of the mod.

Hi.

First of all: great job on this mod. It's quite something!

Secondly: is it possible to add an option to display the age difference of spouses, so the mod displays following info:

Marriage duration  | He: | She: | Age difference:

Thirdly: I manually changed my language cust_text file (uTF-8), but Polish special characters are not displayed well. Screenshot attached.

Fourthly: below I am pasting translations for Polish.

// Age at Marriage Mod
$text['mahe'] = "On :";
$text['mashe'] = "Ona :";
$text['mahewas'] = "Wiek męża";
$text['mashewas'] = "Wiek żony";
$text['marriedage'] = "Dane związku";
$text['mamonth'] = "month"; //and here comes the problem with the variety in Polish. For 1 month it should be "miesiąc", from two to four months should be "miesiące" and for the rest it should be "miesięcy" :)
$text['mamonths'] = "months";
$text['old'] = "old"; //does not apply to Polish
$text['marsince'] = "Są małżeństwem";
$text['marduring'] = "Byli małżeństwem ";
$text['mamax'] = "mniej niż ";
// Age at Marriage Mod

Once again: many thanks for this mod.

Regards

Michał

That would indicate a mis-match in character set encoding.  If your site is using UTF-8 encoding then you must use Notepad++ or TextWranger or equivalent on a Macintosh.

Looks your characters are ANSI encoded.

Many thanks. I used EditPlus to put changes to cust_text.php. Now when I changed encoding to UTF-8 everything works fine.

Problem solved, thanks to Ken Roy.

I do not use the age display with months. I only pointed out the problem if you would like to add a Polish translation. For me it's OK.

Polish translation is now added with specific polish displays (thx to Michal)

Option 12 allows to display age difference at marriage time

When no death date, the burial date is used if exists.

Version 5a => Age at marriage

Enjoy !

Michel
