Paul Barrett
Is there a way to find and delete places that are not linked to any record, please?
RickM
Try this one Paul https://tng.lythgoes.net/wiki/index.php/Report:_Places_with_no_people_attached You may need to make some simple changes to the query to suit your site

Paul Barrett
Turns out that the mod referred to in @stores reply is obsolete because the code has been absorbed into the core. There's an option on Places to list those with no associated event. I missed that. It's obviously a quite intense operation because it caused my site to 504. Hmm. Thanks @RickM and @stores
Ken Roy
Paul, If you are going to use the option to list places with no associated event 1 hour ago, Paul Barrett said: There's an option on Places to list those with no associated event. You should probably specify something in the search to limit the processing to places that have no associated event like a town, county, or state depending on how your places are structured. Paul Barrett
I tried limiting it to one small tree but it still 504'd. The CPU and RAM are underutilised while this is happening - around 14% each. It's the gateway that's timing out. Is there a way to increase the amount of RAM allocated to TNG do you know? Ken Roy
Paul, When you way the gateway is timing out, I take it to mean the gatewary to the SQL server. You can always try the SQL report from which the mod that was incorporated into TNG but I suspect you will have the same issue if you do not limit your search to a town or city or some other entity. You could ask your question on the TNG user2list. Most of the database experts are on the list rather than the forum.
Paul Barrett
Thanks Ken. Regrettably, even with a town defined, it still times out. I'd bet good money this a php RAM execution limit. If it were WordPress I'd know where to increase it. I'll try asking the list
