Linking to a specific language version of TNG

Recommended Posts

rakelbara

Hi

I posted in the FB group yesterday, asking how I could link to a specific language version of TNG. Darrin answered me the following:

Quote

Link to savelanguage2.php?newlanguage1=XXX&instance=1 where XXX is the languageID/

I have to admit I don't understand his reply (f.ex.I never saw a languageID that was three letters, only two letters?), so I was wondering if someone here could help me by giving an example of how you would link to, f.ex., the Icelandic search form page (searchform.php) that is normally www.yourdomain.com/searchform.php ?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Chris. So I guess Icelandic is Ice or Isl. But I still don't know how the link would look like. How would this be appended to the main url?

Rakel,
On my localhost the link is /savelanguage2.php?newlanguage=2&instance=  So you will need to look in phpMyAdmin to get the # for Icelandic on your site to put in that XXX, or my 2.

Ok my languageID's are 6 for Icelandic and 4 for English (checked in phpMyAdmin like you suggested).

So I tried the following URL on my site:

https://legstadaleit.com/searchform.php/savelanguage6.php?newlanguage=6&instance=

And all I get is a white page with the menu on the left side.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thanks for your help!

Rakel,

That is because savelanguage6.php is not a TNG file.  That script name must remain as savelanguage2.php

so it probably needs to be

https://legstadaleit.com/searchform.php/savelanguage2.php?newlanguage=6&instance=

Unfortunately that still gives me a white page with the menu on the left, kind of like if I hadn't chosen a template, completely unformatted it seems.

Thanks for your help guys. Apparently this language change does not work like I thought it did so I will have to find another way around it. But thanks for your help!
