klooster
Because I love Apple, I run my programs on my Mac. Until now I used Legacy 9 through Paralells Desktop in a virtual Windows surrounding, because Legacy is a Windows program. Exporting GedCom from Legacy and importing the GedCom into TNG works flawless. But I have to go into the Virtual Windows, so I bought Family TreeMaker 2019 (FMT), Mac compatible and imported the exported GedCom from TNG into FTM. No problem, all the persons , media and all the notes etc. are in FTM after the import. BUT when I export the GedCom from FMT and import this into TNG, then all my notes in TNG are gone?? Now, of course I can restore them from my backup.I checked the exported FMT GedCom, the notes are al there, but they are not importing. When I test an new added test person with new notes and export, import into TNG the new note is also missing I tried several things, export from Legacy into FMT etc. Tried the GedCom converter mod etc. No succes, so I run out of options. Anyone Idea how to solve this.' I attach the exported GedCom from FMT FTM-EXPORT-GEDCOM-06-01-2021.ged
theKiwi
I just imported your .ged file into my TNG testing site 586 Notes imported. Here is 1 on the page for Cornelis Kloosterman. Did this not import for you? Roger
klooster
Is your testing site Local or online ?? I only tried it on my Local Host, I have not tried in online, I wanted to be sure it is working locally first.
klooster
Uploaded all the gedcom relevant php files from the TNG 13.02 again. No success. NO NOTES. Made a new test Tree, imported the same GedCom file as you imported, NO SUCCES, NO NOTES ?????? It seems to work on your Test site, so it is not a FMT export problem. The GedCom codes for notes seem oke to me in the FTM export.
tngrlkrz
Like Roger, I also imported your gedcom successfully into TNG13.0.2 and found 586 notes. This was on local host (Laragon), and no WordPress. Same result on remote hosted website. Interesting you note count is nearly double. Must be different import and config settings. klooster
I cannot figure this out, made a new test tree, imported etc. no notes visible. Not a Wordpress problem, deactivated Wordpress, after importing FTM GedCom just stand alone TNG, NO NOTES. Tngrlkrz and the Kiwi had.no problem importing my FTM export GedCom, the NOTES were visible and had both 586 notes. The FTM export looks oké to me, the GedCom Notes connatation is correct. SO ????????
RickM
Klooster, Are there any Mods (either of your own design or from the Wiki) that may have an impact on the import process.. I have ever only done one import and that was to get me started with TNG, so don't really know what may be the issue. However having noted in past posts that you do make 'Mods' for many differing reasons, it may be that a Mod has changed something that was not intended to be changed.. It is just a thought on my part..

klooster
Thanks for all the replies and special to you Michel, you really dug into my problem. Well you did put me on the right track. The problem was that my Custom Event types in TNG somehow got screwed up. Besides that, I am not so satisfied with FTM (Family Tree Maker) so I bought REUNION 13 for Mac, importing the notes is working now.
