Nelisw79 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 Hi! can anyone tell me if it’s possible to create custom fields? I want to add a possibility to check resources and status of a person. For instance: research finished or birthcertificate found. It would give me a lot of help in upgrading my family history.
Rob Severijns 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 Nelisw79, I use the Notes field for that purpose. Also see Reliability - New Ideas and Suggestions - TNG Community for more on this topic. Kind regards, Rob
Nelisw79 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 Hi Rob, but filtering on a notes field is not possible. Or?
theKiwi 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 You can add a Custom Event in TNG Admin ------> Custom Events Then you can search them with a Report, or using the Advanced Search Roger
Rob Severijns 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 Nelisw79, All roads lead to Rome. Roger's option using the Custom Events is a very good solution too. The choice you make depends on what you are looking for as an outcome and how flexible you want the outcome to be. The option I use (Notes) allows me to filter all notes containing the word "complete" or "Reliability" or any other text I choose. It's pretty straight forward and doesn't allow a custimized format as an outcome. What you are looking for can also be acclomplished by creating a Custom Event. Choosing this option requires you to use the Reports function from within TNG. It's a flexible solution that gives you many options to create your own customized reports. Do take a look at Category:Reports - TNG_Wiki (lythgoes.net) if you go for Roger's option. Rob

No, you can also search the Custom Events from the Advanced Find screen - click the "Other Events" at the bottom of the screen to expand out a list of all your custom events, then do your search on the relevant one. Rob Severijns 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2020 Roger, My bad and thx for the usefull correction. Rob
Nelisw79 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2020 looked in to both options. Custom events: if i add a custom event and add it to a person, the filter results won't show all the people that havent got this event. It will only show the persons who have this event added. Filter on notes: I don't see an option to filter for notes. Do i have to build this in custom SQL?
