Replace header title with image (template 16, version 12.3)

I've given up on trying to integrate TNG and WP with the plugin. Instead, I am trying to modify my TNG template, so that my TNG-powered subdomain  more or less matches the look and feel of my WP blog (which uses the Penscratch 2 theme). I am using TNG template 16, TNG version 12.3.

Instead of a header title, I want to use my own site logo image.

In both the index and topmenu files, I have added an img src link, and commented out the header title call:

<div id="tcontainer">
    <div id="tbackground">
        <div id="tpage">
            <div class="theader">
                <img src="templates/template16/img/ovi logo blgreen.png">
                   <div id="thomemast" class="mast">
                        <h1><?php // echo $title; ?></h1>
                   </div>
            <div id="tmenu">
                    <ul>

In Google Chrome and Firefox, this seems to work just fine. But in MS Edge and Safari, it messes up the alignment for everything below the (commented-out) header title.

Obviously I am doing this all wrong. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Don't know if commenting out like that is the cause of the problem.

As that whole 3 line snippet is now empty, what happens if you just delete it?

Thanks for the suggestion. I finally figured it out, and it had to do with the way that MS Edge handles google fonts. When you get the embed code for a google font, it now has &display=swap in the code. E.g.:

@import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Libre+Baskerville&display=swap');

Apparently MS Edge doesn't always handle this well...As soon as I removed "&display=swap," the problem was fixed.
