Marriage Event

Recommended Posts

I've added an event - Marriage - but when I try to find it to link to a couple, it doesn't show up in the list.

Can someone please talk me through what I should have done. Thanks in anticipation

Hi Derek,

By added an event - Marriage do you mean you created a family?

Creating a family is the usual way to create a relationship between two people.

Additional custom events could be Engaged (ENGA), Marriage Licence (MARL) or any other family related custom event.

Creating an Event and name it Marriage is therfor not the usual way.

Kind regards,

Rob

TNG already provides marriage as a standard event?  If you need a new event for a reason, you  need to make sure the new event is marked as Accept in the Admin > Custom Event Type

If this even was imported, then you need to re-import that GEDCOM file after marking the event as Accept.

Yes, I know it shows in the list for the individual, but if I go to photos, elect one, then edit, click Event drop-down list - marriage is not there.

That is because the Marriage event is not associated to a person but to the Family.  so you have to select Family before you will see the Marriage event to which you can link media

Thank you for this. My mistake was that I was linking them to Person.
