User able to view other trees

Recommended Posts

A user is assigned to a specific tree. They are still able to view other trees. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Specific user is a guest, No add rights, No edit rights, No delete rights.

Access limits:Restrict the above rights to the following: tree:Judith Family

https://www.upyourgenealogy.com

Account

username:usertest

password:test1test1

One example of the issue. Search the surname Judith from the home page. The returned listing shows Judith's who belong to other trees. User is able to view people who belong to other trees.

https://www.upyourgenealogy.com/getperson.php?personID=P19&tree=mytree-3

Just noticed a guest user can also see living people.

In Admin >> Setup >> Configuration >> General Settings >> Privacy

Restrict access to assigned tree = set to yes

Same place Show Living Data: set to "depending on users rights"

Only allow your registered users or users of your choice to allow viewing living persons

Allow to view information for living individuals
Allow to view information for private individuals

Tick/check box if you want to allow, leave blank if not.

Thanks! I checked the privacy settings. They match what you listed.

I logged in and took a look at your website.

You have ID prefix letters I (eye) and P, but I think that even with multiple trees, the prefix letter should only be one or the other.

This I guess is causing problems with your settings.

Sorry, maybe I'm just daft,  but I don't know what you mean. When you say prefix letters i (eye) what us that in reference to?

Everyone in your database has an ID number.

This number is prefixed by the letter I or P.

I is for individual but Ancestry introduced P for person

You have to make all of your prefixes either I or P but not both

Surprised we can import without a warning about having different prefixes.

I tried correcting the prefixes but there doesn't seem to be an option.

I do not think this restriction prevents the user from seeing people in other trees.  It may be used to restrict access to Living Individuals and those who are marked Private, as well as restricting update rights which you are not granting

I read the discussion linked above earlier. Export the people table and change P to I? Is the people table the only one needing corrections?  I have 22,000+ people. Will I loose the links I created to media or any other info?

LOSE ! ("loose" is my pet hate)

It's likely that some links will be broken.

Whatever you decide, you must get your ID prefixes the same.

What is your prefix setting in Admin?

Ken

I created a test tree and user and restricted access to the test tree only.

Access Limits:
Apply the above rights to all trees and branches.
Restrict the above rights to the following: >> I selected Test Tree here

Restrict access to assigned tree = set to yes

I logged in as test user and I was not able to see any persons in my other tree, BUT I was able to view existing media.

The following user settings are to restrict access to living/private

Allow to view information for living individuals
Allow to view information for private individuals

Prefix I is the default and the one I use.

You have to remove the ones with P and replace with I

Right, I understand that. But, that's easier said than done with 25,000+ profiles.

You'll have to go the gedcom route i.e. export from TNG, run through a desktop prog, export new gedcom and upload to TNG

At least you won't upload an Ancestry gedcom again!
