Frequency of causes of death?

Hello!
I use a report by H.Savinije to show the frequency of certain causes of death.

SELECT cause AS cause_of_death, COUNT(*) AS total FROM tng_events WHERE cause<>"" AND parenttag="DEAT" GROUP BY cause_of_death ORDER BY cause_of_death;

This query doesn't work for me. I have recorded the cause of death under a custom event (_CAUS).

How do I change the query to specify the frequency of events recorded in the custom cause of death (_CAUS)?

it works.  Trial and error helped

I get no results when I run this report.  I use eventtype DEAT (cause of death) to record the cause.
