Where is the ged file stored?

Hello!

I deleted the ged file in the gedcom folder, but the names still appear. I deleted the cache and restarted the computer. The names are still there. Where is the ged file and how can I make it visible?

If I import a new ged file, will old settings be preserved?

Best regards

A

The presence of a .ged file in your gedcom folder has nothing to do with data that is displayed by your site.

The data from the .ged file is loaded into the TNG database on the server, and it is this that populates the names and data on to your site.

If you import a new .ged file, you can choose to overwrite all the information that is currently in your database with the data that is in the new GEDCOM file.

Thank you for the answer!
But strange things happen.
A) I export a ged file from Reunion
b) The ged file for Mathias Josef Huppertz, for example, does not contain the tag RESN

c) I import the ged-datein in tng

Here, the record of M.J.Huppertz is marked with confidentiality.
When importing, I chose to override all existing records.
I think somewhere must survive in tng data scraper

RESN is the gedcom tag for confidential data

In the gedcom file in the upper picture this tag RESN is missing  and yet the result indicates confidential

Summary:
A) I have a ged file without the tag RESN.
b) I import the file into TNG by overwriting existing records
c) The result shows records with the Note: Confidential , although I did not provide this notice

I have no explanation for why that happens - perhaps you should write to @Darrin Lythgoe directly with these examples to ask why the "Vertraulich" line isn't being deleted if you do a Replace All import.
