Living, but not alive

How do you mark them as dead in Legacy?

In Reunion I indicate this by putting a ? in the death date field. TNG imports this and interprets it as "yes but I don't know when" and so shows those people as NOT living when the data is imported.

When a person has a death date, Legacy will automatically mark it in a specific field.

Look at this example. The red arrow shows "Living = No"

What does Legacy write into the GEDCOM file for this person?

Not much - here is what is listed in Gedcom. And as you can see she died in 1995-06-02 and I thought TNG would mark her as dead.

I have tried your report code on my site and it shows 0 people for the result.

If I removed the clause "AND living=1" and it shows 8,019 people.

Is Erna Anderson one of the people who show up in your report as Living?

What happens if you go to TNG Admin ------> Import/Export ------> Secondary Processes and click the button "Refresh Living" - that should make anyone like Erna Anderson show as NOT Living.

Thanks for your efford
When "Refresh Living" as suggested I got this the system answer:
I100 I200 I300 I400 I500 I600 I700 I800 I900 I1000 I1100 I1200 I1300 I1400 I1500 I1600 I1700 I1800 I1900 I2000 I2100 I2200 I2300 I2400 I2500 I2600 I2700 I2800 I2900 I3000 I3100 I3200 I3300 I3400 I3500 I3600 I3700 I3800 I3900 I4000 I4100 I4200 I4300 I4400 I4500 I4600 I4700 I4800 I4900 I5000 I5100 I5200 I5300 I5400 I5500 I5600 I5700 I5800 I5900 I6000 I6100 I6200 I6300 I6400 I6500 I6600 I6700 I6800 I6900 I7000 I7100 I7200 I7300 I7400
Finished
0 changed to deceased, 0 changed to living.

And Erna Andersen is still alive with many others - some up to 167 years old.

As you did, I tried to remove the phrase "AND living=1". This resulted in the number of living increased from 150 to 4950

FWIW,  I only get an accurate listing of Living (matching the Statistics page) in my database  if, in your script, I remove "(YEAR(CURDATE())-YEAR(birthdatetr)>100) AND" and   "AND YEAR(birthdatetr)<>0" . Not an SQL guy, but something amiss with using those Date elements.

What does the TNG edit person screen display for Ema?

Refresh Living depends on what you specify in the Setup > Import Settings for

  • If no death date, assume deceased if older than:
  • Assume living if not dead this many years

If you do not leave the 2nd parameter null, then users may be flagged as Living even though they are deceased

Can you look at the database using phpMyAdmin from your cPanel?

If so, find Erna there, and see what it shows for her birthdatetr and deathdatetr fields - are they the expected

1916-08-13

and

1995-06-08

or are they something else?

In the edit screen display you see this:

The import settings are both set for 100 years.

I don't understand this. What is cPanel? How to look for this?

If you have a 100 years in the field - Assume living if not dead this many years:  then people will be flagged as Living for 100 years after they are dead

Edited - So if you want the death date honored. you need to clear that field

I cleared the field: "Assume living if not dead this many years", but it didn't change anything. Still 105 people who are alive even though they are marked as dead.

William,

Did you then run the Import or the Refresh Living in the  Import Secondary Process tab ?

You are the best.
That did the trick - 105 persons are now dead.
Thanks a lot.
