reesjel
I recently purchased TNG and used the TNG Wordpress plugin to connect it with my Wordpress account. I went through all the steps outlined on this page: https://tng.lythgoes.net/wiki/index.php?title=Using_TNG_and_WordPress_with_the_tng-wordpress-plugin but for some reason the TNG data isn't displaying on my genealogy page (https://www.rootz.one/genealoy) Darrin was kind enough to take a look at my setup but he couldn't see any inconsistencies either. I do use a non recommended permalink option but changing it doesn't help, I also changed the site theme but that didn't help display the content either. Has anybody had this issue before? And if so, do you have any suggestions for other things I can check? The TNG data itself is working btw (https://www.rootz.one/tng)

reesjel
I'm not sure why the login details didn't work, however, I've just made a few changes to the site and a login is no longer required to access the genealogy page So you should be able to go to https://www.rootz.one/genealogy and check the site. Not that there’s much to see there, I still haven’t been able to display the TNG data.

PeterC66
Sorry I don't have time to help much at the moment, but I encourage you to persevere. I did get the integration to work OK some years ago eventually on my site (eg see surnames). Mostly I just followed the instructions., but I did need (and get) help from people on this list, and am very pleased with the end result. (One deep technical issue I had I blogged about here - but this is not your problem.) Two immediate issues I see are that your https://www.rootz.one/genealogy goes immediately to https://www.rootz.one/en/genealogy/ - presumably this is a .htaccess thing and it might confuse TNG? your Genealogy page content seems to be within a div with id="sidebar_layout" class="full-width-template clearfix - this might indicate some issue with the set up of the WP template and its sidebars? During development my problems were sometimes solved just by (within the TNG / Wordpress integration plugin) clicking on the Search for TNG Installation button, and then on the Update TNG Variables. Peter Thanks. The /en/genealogy part is because I’m using a translation plugin, but I had the issue of TNG data not showing up before I installed the plugin. I chose a full width template for the genealogy page, perhaps that’s where the div comes from. I did change templates though and that didn’t do the trick either. 😕 I’ll give your other suggestions a try and see if that’ll help.

I would try these things: 1 - Disable the language thing to remove the en/ from the path - I expect that this is confusing the plugin 2 - Disable all other plugins until you can get this working with a basic TNG and WordPress install. 3 - try changing your theme to a different theme - does that make any difference? 4 - try setting the Permalink structure to one of the recommended ones - I don't understand why some work and some don't, but for now go with what's known to work 5 - Update the TNG Variables 6 - Repeat 1 through 5 Note I have seen installations where nothing would make this work - I suspect that it might be to do with mod_rewrite rules in place on the server - is your server on a well known hosting company, or self hosted, or...? If you want me to take a look at it, send an eMail to rogerkiwi@aol.com with details of how to log in to your WP Admin page, and your TNG Admin area. I installed the language plugin days after I tried to display the data on the page, so the issue was there before so it wasn’t confusing the plugin before. I will try to change it though. I’ve only installed the plugin yesterday so I’m still tinkering with it. 2. I started with no additional plugins, when I hit the brick wall I started working on other parts to keep things going. But I will disable the newly added plugins till I can get it resolved. 3. I’ve tried changing the theme to the standerd WP theme, but that didn’t work. I’m also using a theme that’s recommended in the tutorial, to make sure I have a theme that works with the plugin. 4. I’ve changed the permalinks already as well but that didn’t make any difference and didn’t solve the problem. 5. I haven’t tried that yet since I’ve installed the plugin, I’ll give that a try. 6. Repeated most steps many times already 🙈 I’m with a Dutch hosting company. Depending on what needs to be doing I can either make changes myself or have them do it for me. I’m not super technical but I know my way around most things with proper instructions. I’ll drop you a mail later to see if you can maybe see something I’ve missed.
