wlie
For more than a year, I have not worked with my TNG page. This has resulted in a lot of forget about changing my setup. Maybe due to my age (78 years) !!! 1) What I have trouble with is, that I want to have a menu item on the front page showing the churches that I have pictures of. I want to use the menu item "Cementaries". I assume I will make an extra folder with all the pictures of churches, but where and what should I change? Currently, the pictures of the churches are in the same folder as the tombstones. It is a little strange that if you press "Cementaries" the next page will show the name of the cities where the churches are located. But if you press a city there is no church. 2) I managed to change the name of the menu item called "Cementeries", but only in the Danish version. I can not figure out where to change the name "Cementatries" to "Churches" in the English edition? My site can be found at http://www.wlie.dk/family For a short period I have made a user called demo and password is also demo. stores
William, in the end it comes down to personal preference with respect to where you put the actual pictures. That said, you already have a link to "Cemeteries" and "Headstones" on your home page but you probably have not added any pictures or at least not added them in the right way to see them in that particular collection. I could not find any pictures of Churches to examine so... Basically, when you click the "Cemeteries" menu item on your home page you are actually viewing all the cemeteries that you built in the Admin/Cemeteries menu which is only used to build a cemetery... The next step after you build a cemetery is to go to Admin/Media/Headstones and add headstones to the cemetery and you can attach those headstones to the departed person as well as a cemetery if you like. Now you can treat the Church Pictures as Headstones or even better, you could create a new collection called "Church Pictures" and when you build the collection tell it to use the "Same setup as: Headstones" that way you have the option to link them directly to a cemetery that you have already built if that is where you want them to show. Then add a Church Picture to the new collection and attach it to the Cemetery you build in Admin/Cemeteries. Hope that helps
wlie
Stores Thank you for your prompt and comprehensive reply. I appreciate your help I understand what you write, but unfortunately I do not know how to implement your suggestions. TNG is a great program, but I think it requires you to be a programmer. All the church pictures are currently in the same folder containing the tombstones. If you click on Cemeteries and then click on one of the displayed names, for example "Hasle". Now you see 3 names. Clicking on one of the names will now display that church. What I do not understand is that if I click on the menu item called the Headstones, the next picture will display thumbnails of all tombstones. And if I click on one of the thumbnails, the image is now full-size. Why do not I see thumbnails when I do the same under menu item Cemeteries? Perhaps my problem is that I do not understand the connection between the pictures of churches and the menu point Cemeteries. As I wrote initially, it's more than a year since I created my web page, and I can not remember how I made it. Sorry for my bad English. My native language is Danish. stores
William As far as being a programer... you dont have to be but it definitely would not hurt. I think your problem is more what you are trying to accomplish and the way you are trying to accomplish it and this is why you don't see thumbnails when you click the Cemeteries menu item. The Admin/Cemeteries menu is intended for adding the info related to an actual cemetery, then you connect things to that cemetery via the Admin/Media menu and the way you connect those items dictates what you see. I suspect you might have added those Church Pictures as photos? and if you did, I don't believe you have the option to link them to a Cemetery you build in the Admin/Cemeteries menu directly. Now if the picture was added as a headstone you could link it to a Cemetery you built in the Admin/Cemeteries menu. However, how about you try this... Lets create a new collection and call it Churches, and you add 1 picture to the Churches Collection and see if this works for you, if not, you can delete the collection, no harm, no foul. Now I do something similar to your Churches but with Cemetery Pictures which are pictures of the sign at the entrance of cemeteries showing the actual name which I attach to the Cemetery Place (Image 2b) as well as the Cemetery (Image 2b) so I will use my "Cemetery Pictures" collection as an example. Image 1a shows my Cemetery Pictures collection in the Admin/Media menu. Image 1b shows my Cemetery Pictures collection setup in the Admin/Media menu. You can create a Churches collection by just copying my example but use Churches instead of Cemetery. Your Church Pictures are simply photos of Churches, like my Cemetery Pictures, so using the same setup as I did, Headstones, will allow you to connect your pictures directly to a cemetery you build via the Admin/Cemeteries menu as well as connecting them to a Person or a Place. Image 2a & 2b are screenshots of my adding the actual picture of the Elmwood Cemetery sign to TNG and linking the picture to the cemetery. Image 3a thru 3c show the screens as I walk to the Elmwood Cemetery from the Cemeteries link, like on your home page. Now after looking at my examples, create a Churches collection and link a picture to it and this should get you the desired results as far as having Church Pictures showing when you click on a Cemetery Name. Hope that helps, Jim
wlie
stores Thank you for your great work helping me. It is very overwhelming. I have been trying for many hours, but unfortunately, without luck. I give up - it's too complicated to me and I'm afraid to ruin what I already have. You have done your best and again thank you for your efforts. William
