Why Wordpress?

Agree, integrating TNG and WordPress should be left to the data nerds (max 3 percent?) among the TNG users. The rest of the users should use their time and energy on genealogy instead of wasting it on integration issues.

Agreed. And I'm so far behind with research and data entry to get my site(s) up to date.

Don't be so negative. Most issues are really easily solved. The more difficult ones appear when you want something really different, but that's a choice. Nobody is forcing you. Calling people "nerds" or saying WordPress integration is "a waste of time" is not only very rude but also utter nonsense.

Fluffy82, I know I wasn't being negative or being rude.  I believe you may have taken some statements out of context.  In my situation, Trying to learn WordPress was a bit more that I expected.  After a year or so, on and off with WordPress, I believe I had reached the 'summit of my knowledge', and All that time, I should have been doing my research and data entry.  It was a learning experience, to say the least, but the learning curve was a little too much for me.

Yes, that is why WordPress integration should be left to the 3 percent data nerds among the TNG users...

Insult people once more and I'll be reporting you.

May I ask why the term 'nerd' is insulting to you?  I'm just curious about that.  you seem angry about it.  I don't think Kare meant to insult anyone with his comment...just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Nerd is a common insult here. Calling someone a nerd is saying they are ugly, socially incapable, uninteresting, they'll never be able to get a partner, the kind of person living at mom's and dad's aged 30 playing video games all day, etc. I've been bullied all my youth being called a "nerd" (and worse) and don't take it lightly.

You might want to take a step back and calm down.  Your language standards aren't everyone's standards.

As my wife of 35 years likes to say:  Marrying a nerd made her happy, well-off, well-fed (I do the cooking), and she gets free technical support!  :- )

I'm sort of proud of being a nerd--two Computer Science degrees, a successful 35 year career in cybersecurity and information security, and despite knowing how to do a WordPress/TNG integration, I **STILL** don't recommend it for anyone who isn't absolutely sure they want to deal with all the hassles.

Same to you. You might like being insulted, but not everyone does.

I totally understand that using WordPress is not fir everyone. But calling people who do like it names, and saying they are wasting their time is just rude.

As is completely obvious from my post.  I did no such thing, and I agree with @John Paul.  Kare wasn't intending to use it in a derogatory manner either.

Quite the contrary:  You perpetuate stereotypes around the word 'nerd' by applying a cultural definition that not everyone--least of which those of us who can legitimately, and proudly, call ourselves nerds--accept, a point I tried to make with humor.  Obviously not successfully.

He literally said that people who use WordPress are wasting their time. How is that not derogatory? Calling people a nerd could be interpreted as not insulting, but at the same time calling them "time wasters" clearly shows the negative intention.

Anyway, all this to say that you don't have to be a nerd to use WordPress and it is certainly not a waste of time.
