The only explanation I have is that there might be some kind of WP/TNG conflict with Panzoom.min.js and/or tngzoom.js because in TNG stand alone, there is no problem with zooming in or out.

I am revisiting this topic as the TNG Plugin no longer works at all with my version of WP and theme at https://birkey.org Apparently it is not something that Darrin will fix or update.

Darrin recommended I try this method. I have tried to implement the instructions in the WIKI, adding the three php files to my TNG folder (https://birkey.org/tng). I am not sure if I am supposed to do something special with the wp-load.php file, which is in my root WP folder. I also made the workaround changes to the /tng/index.php file.

I have TNG version 14.0.4 installed. My setup screen and diagnostics screens are attached. My site runs in the cloud on a Cloudways Wordpress server.

The "Family Tree" link is an empty page within my site. It has no content. I want to view the tng functionality inside the headers and footers of my DIVI WP site on this page. How is that accomplished?

I do not understand what I am doing wrong, or why this method does not seem to work with my setup.

Any advice would be welcome as this is the only and last option for trying to integrate all of my Mom's family genealogy content from Reunion into our family website.

In the Site Design & Definition page, I keep getting the nasty 403 forbidden message when I try to submit. I've done some trouble shooting..checking file permissions ect, and config.php, but nothing I've done so far has solved the problem.

A bare-bones header is there, but most of it seems to be missing, and the footer also seems to be missing. Quotes are definitely straight, not curly. Anyone have any speculation what the issue might be?

WP Themes I have tried at least 6 different themes, including my own wp theme. I have selected no TNG theme. I have changed my topmenu, footer and meta to the recommended settings. I have deleted and reinstalled both wp and TNG 3 times. 

My wp is in my root file and tng is in a folder called genealogy. It appears that TNG is not seeing my wp setup.

It had been at least ten years that I have used the same WP/TNG design. After I had upgraded to TNG 14 from TNG 9 and I saw some great TNG themes had been added, I decided to look for a way to integrated WP into TNG rather than trying to fit TNG into WP.

 Now because of the ease of adding new pages to TNG, I only needed WP to display posts. After some searching I found an easy method to display my WP posts in a TNG theme. I’ll explain that later.

While it may not have been necessary, I did a clean install of the latest version of TNG. I added 3 folders to my TNG installation, one: I called “blog” but it could be named anything. I installed a new copy of Wordpress into the /blog folder. I only imported my prior posts into my new WP install but no longer needed pages or media. The second folder was called “mypages” and the third was called “myphotos”.  After I uploaded my Gedcom and media, I began making all the pages I wanted and placed them in “mypages” folder. The images I used for my new pages were placed in the “myphotos” folder. Template 21 is a great design has many areas to add links and photos, though any template can be used. I used it to add the appropriate links and page names to the template setup.

All the new pages I created were made using the file historytemplate.php located in the root TNG folder. I used one of those pages to import WP posts to my TNG site. While I could have added the WP posts to any page I chose to set up a page called articles.

To add Wordpress to TNG do the following.

At the top of any page you choose after:

Enter the following:

I am just getting started with TNG and am so glad to have found it. As I set up the website I am focusing on the functionality first and will add my content later. I have a small gedcom uploaded and a basic header established in WP Elementor on an Astra child-theme.

Yesterday I “hooked” my very basic header into the TNG pages using the Kloosterman method - thank you Mr. Kloosterman! I also attempted the steps to eliminate the double header and footer, but ended up with blank pages. I reversed what I did by replacing all the modified files with their original versions, but something is not right.  (Perhaps the issue is unrelated anyway.)

THE ISSUE: My TNG pages are populating in two columns. Here is an example:

When I look at this page in Developer Tools in Chrome, it seems to perhaps be an Elementor issue. I have combed through my few Elementor pages and all the theme appearance areas to try to find out where the two columns are originating, but am at a loss. 1 - In new User Registration and User Profile, "Your Interest" was not saved in TNG User Table under tng Notes. Following changes makes that happen.

• Careless typo in /newregcomplete.php, line 98, if (tngVersion >=10 && $tngVersion< 11)
• should be if ($tngVersion >=10 && $tngVersion< 11). (Missing $ in front of tngVersion).
• Careless quote of incorrect variable did not display or save TNG Notes in/from TNG User table.

I am setting up a new wordpress website, for private purposes. Below that (see diagram).

I have placed a second wordpress website for genealogy, in a subfolder (called family trees) of the second wordpress website, the TNG website.

When integrating the TNG website into Wordpress, I use the "Kloosterman" method.

In itself the integration goes well, only the footer of the wordpress website is not shown.

I have already tried a number of things, but this has not led to a result.

I suspect that WPTNG-footer.php does not retrieve the Genesis footer.php and therefore does not show it. Or that the retrieval of this Genesis footer is blocked.

My knowledge in this area is too limited, hence the request for support on this forum. Thanks in advance

Darrin emailed me with the next message:

“Newer versions of TNG include some important JavaScript code in the footer, so you need to include those TNG functions or certain things won't work. For example, image previews that happen when you mouse over image thumbnails don't work without this code. That's how I found the problem.”

He suggested a solution to add some new TNG code into the WPTNG-footer.php.

So I advice anyone who is using my WP-TNG integration method to update there WPTNG-footer.php with the new code Darrin suggested as showing below:

Up to now, I've been creating tiny php-files into widgets, manually setting the charts. But it doesn't really look nice as I'm limited in what I can "draw". Here are some examples.
I've tried to do it through js, but that's too complicated (as I have one page with tabs, each containing 6-8 widgets, and there are loading issues as each separate widget wants to load js itself...).

There are some nice WordPress plugins that can draw the kind of graphs I want. But they usually only display values from a table, while the graphs I need would be calculating values with SQL.

These plugins can also draw information from a spreadsheet (like Google Sheets or Excel). And though it is complicated, I know you can create dynamic spreadsheets pulling data from database tables using SQL.

Does that seem to be overdoing it? Or is there a simpler solution?

It also happens on the submit_photo.php page from the Submit Photo/Document Mod where the page name shows as submit_photo-php

This is definitely being caused by WordPress somehow - my sites that are not using WordPress are fine.

Have others seen this?

Those of you with a TNG/WP setup, what SEO plugin do you use?
My site is set up with the Kloosterman method and I'm wondering what might be the optimal SEO plugin. I'm currently using Yoast but have heard good things about Rank Math.

I am setting up my Wordpress-Tng integration, acording to the recommendations of  @klooster and I have some questions:

- How can I limit the width of my TNG pages ? I noticed that some wordpress themes spread out the TNG pages on the full width, while some others keep it neatly in a "box". And I want my TNG pages in a box. Not like it is now: https://neptis.be/tng/getperson.php?personID=I193&tree=tree13
I guess some additional CSS is required, but what are the required  settings ?

- In the Kloosterman Wordpress integration, TNG does not use a theme. But apparently there is a default TNG theme (light and dark blue) that is used in the TNG pages in Wordpress. Where in TNG are these colours  defined ? 

- When you use the media files integration through symbolic links, do you upload the pictures to the symbolic links (in the TNG directory) or to the wordpress directories ? 

- And last question: what is the added value of using a common database for Wordpress and TNG. Does it really speed up the loading of pages ?

Anyone have any ideas to resolve this?

In testing new themes on a test site, I'm aware the tide is shifting away from classic toward block-based themes, and wondering if anyone has had success in deploying TNG within a block-based theme using the Kloosterman method (or otherwise)?  Because the new themes no longer use php files to manage content display and page structure, the various calls for generating headers/footers/etc (e.g. 'get_header()') no longer function, though some basic theme styles (e.g. background colors) do carry through to the TNG pages. 

Has anyone explored integrating TNG within this new block-based WP theme structure with success?  My own search for resources/insights have only found solutions for custom pages and/or plugins operating within the Wordpress environment. And because of my aforementioned luddite tendencies, parsing the firehose of sites and forums that address the details associated with block-based themes has gotten a bit overwhelming. 

Appreciate any thoughts others might have on this.  I did a cursory search of threads in the community, and while I did see block-based themes mentioned in passing, I didn't see a direct query about the suitability of the Kloosterman approach for these new themes (e.g. Twenty Twenty-Two, Twenty Twenty-Three, etc.).
