I recently started to get many errors (Code 520) while using Cloudflare. On my server they resulted in this error message:

Resource Limit Is Reached
The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.

I put in a support request with my host and the response was:

The Entry Process Limit is the cause of these errors. This is the amount of concurrent PHP scripts which can run on your account at once.

We're currently seeing several requests with complex parameters every second from different IP addresses around the world:

Their suggestion was that I activate the Bot Fight Mode and possibly under attack mode in Cloudflare , which I did.

I now get this when a page opens:

Almost nothing!

Is anyone else having issues or have suggestions?

I have a web site at aaaa.com. I have another domain name bbbb.com that I want to go to the same site. Nothing special, just use that domain name bbbb.com without redirecting to aaaa.com when changing pages.

I went to utilities > Backup, Restore & Optimize Table Data > Select All > Back up > Go and I get the attached message 

If I deselect Select All and just try selecting one of the items in the list I get the same message, albeit for the relevant table.

I asked Darrin for help, thinking that perhaps my database was too large for TNG backups (11,000 names, 6000 images) but he replied saying "Actually that could mean that your Root Path is wrong. Go to Admin/Setup/General Settings/Paths & Folders to check. You could just set it to blank and let TNG determine it dynamically."

I've done that I I get the same error message.

My webhost does not include a free backup service (am regretting my choice of webhost!)

I am not a techy. Darrin installed TNG for me.

Help please? It seems backups on TNG should be 'press of a button' stuff but clearly not for me! 🙁 I would be happy to pay for some support at this stage if anyone with skills would be interested. 

It works if I do not Use SMTP authentication, but as soon as I turn on SMTP authentication, I get an authentication error.

I am using Template 15 and I created a different email address for the website than I used to register for TNG if that makes a difference.

Any idea how to fix it?

I am up to date, using version 15.0.5. My host is Simply Hosting. I use MS Outlook as an email client. I looked in my cPanel email accounts section and the user request email was NOT there either.

I tried to create a person whose family name is L'Hermitte.

I was not able to save the person creation.

So, I created it with Lhermitte as a name (without the apostrophe), then i was able to modify it to the correct form of L'Hermitte.

Did anybody ever met this issue ?

You can see in the included screen shot:

1. Details of person as head of family

2. A branch created with the indicated person as starting point

3. When I click on the "Show People with this tree/branch": NO people reported!

Please let me know what I have done wrong. I am new to TNG still in the learning stage.

I just now installed TNG v. 15.0.5 on my test site and tested the new "collapse" on the Family section. It looked like this before collapsing:

but it appears it's not hiding any media that is attached to the "Marriage Bond", "Permission to Marry" and "Marriage" events in this section after I collapse it:

Is this a bug or is it intended?

Any advice is most appreciated!

I run sussexjewishrecords.org.uk, a WordPress site with TNG integrated. After my host (GoDaddy) upgraded my PHP to 8.4 at the start of May, the site has been down. I'd be very grateful for two kinds of help.

The technical situation:

• WordPress now updated to 6.8.5
• Bridge theme (Qode Interactive) with bundled js_composer / WPBakery, LayerSlider, Revolution Slider, Qode plugins, all old
• TNG integrated via WPTNG-meta.php (Darrin flagged this file as failing on PHP 8 and in need of developer attention)
• Currently on PHP 7.4 (downgraded by GoDaddy) and still getting a fatal error: Cannot redeclare addslashes_gpc() ... in /wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 6503. Looks like a mismatch of WordPress core files between versions

Has anyone else hit this combination? If so, what was your fix path?

Can anyone recommend a developer who understands both WordPress and TNG and could do the proper updates (theme, bundled plugins, the WPTNG-meta.php fix, and a clean WordPress core reinstall)? Happy to pay a reasonable rate. I'm UK-based but the work can be done remotely from anywhere.

If your on shared hosting and have cPanel, ask your hoster if they following and fixing this issue.

It's an easy fix and validation with 5 terminal bash commands.

I toggled [mysqli] in the version options.  This was previously unchecked.  

TNG requires [msqli], [gd] and [mbstring].

Issue:  When switching my PHP version on my hosts (A2 / Hosting.com) cPanel management system, it kills TNG.

I am currently running PHP version 7.4 on my shared host account.  I wish to elevate this to PHP version 8.2.

All my subdomains are prefixes off the main page. Genealogy resides at:  genealogy.majercin.com

I am attempting to begin work on a new subdomain.  The recommendation was to bump the PHP version to 8.2.
When I did, my TNG site hits a status 500 error on index.php (on the genealogy site).

Question:  is there a tool/setting/tweak inside of the TNG structure which allows a change in the PHP version it operates on?

I set up my TNG website 6-8 years ago, and everything worked perfectly.

Now I want to do the same for a friend, but I'm stuck during the installation. I'm completely lost.

I created a database with the provider.

I copied the TNG data and opened the readme.html file.

I clicked on "Set Permission." I should get an OK, but nothing happens.

I entered the database details and got a 404 error.

I've created a new database several times, deleted all the TNG data from the provider, and re-uploaded it. Nothing has worked. I keep getting a 404 error.

When I try to start the website, the provider's index.html file appears.

Can anyone help me, please?

It's been 25 years since I did any coding and that I was only using rudimentary code then. l need a bit of help deciphering what is required of me on the top of the main Histories page of my site.

I would also like to have all the Histories pages not subject to login so that the Search engines can crawl them. Is this a good idea or am I thinking about things 20 years ago and you shouldn't do this now.

Also there's a bit in the code that's telling me to delete something and I don't understand which bit.

I am querying the part that starts "Step 2" as I don't understand which part I'm supposed to delete. And also, if it is a good idea to not have login, the line underneath Step 2, I don't understand what I'm supposed to do there either.

I have set the "nologon" to true but they still seem to require login.

The premise is to clone the repository, download your TNG files as a zip archive, and put it in that same directory, edit a ".env" file for configuration (it can work with defaults), and run "docker compose up". You will not need to access the "readme.html" form and configure settings there. More flexibility is available. Please take a look at the README.

It will create two containers, one for the MySQL database and another for TNG. You will also see a remnant container (tng_init), which is only used once for configuration.

P.S. Even when not using Docker, you can copy the ".env" file, the "tng_init.sh" file, and the ZIP archive to a server of your choice (typically the "/var/www/html" directory), log in, and execute the "tng_init.sh" script and not have to do the "readme.html" thing. Files will be unpacked, permissions updated, and the configuration will be completed.

The reason we want to do this is that it would help us to manage our email comms effectively and efficiently.

We are a Clan TNG website with users of differening technical ability and I am conscious to not add mods that need maintaining on upgrades and not keen to tinker with too many php files. I do not want the site to break if I am not the one around to do any upgrade for whatever reason.

Is there a way to do this and if so, any advice?

Background.

My workflow is:

I have a TNG installation on my home computer and another installation on the internet. I use the home computer for updates to be sure that everything is right. Then I backup the database, up load to the internet site and restore the data bases. I've been doing this for years with no problems. I have a new MacBook Air running OS X 26.3. The old computer is a MacBook Air with OS X 15.7.4. I use MAMP to manage the home computer site. I've had problems getting MAMP to run on the new computer so I installed MAMP on my wife's computer, MacBook Air with OS X 15.7.3. The were some initial problems but I've got the website running on her computer. However when I open the admin page on TNG I get the above error. Does anyone know what it means (I only now enough about this stuff to be dangerous)?

Had to restart my webpage with a fresh install.

When I change the settings in the Administration pages and then chose save & exit or save & Stay I get the same blank page with the error:

When I revisit the page, the changes I have tried to do have been applied to the page.

The only error I have had during the install was that permissions could not be set for a  number of files and it told me to do it manually

Any ideas what I have done wrong?

after I login I get the WSOD.

I can get to admin functions when I log in on my database home page:  https://robsgenealogy.com/robsgenealogy/index.php

The data is still being displayed on the site - for example https://robsgenealogy.com/robsgenealogy/getperson.php?personID=3460434&tree=1

The behavior, in case it helps, if I use my admin user name and password from the WAMP server is a silent error--no failure message, but the page still says you are anonymous and there's no admin menu.

Any ideas?  Can I delete that entry in the tng_users table and use some php file to regenerate a new admin user?
