	Hi
</p>

<p>
	I recently started to get many errors (Code 520) while using Cloudflare. On my server they resulted in this error message:
</p>

<p>
	Resource Limit Is Reached<br>
	The website is temporarily unable to service your request as it exceeded resource limit. Please try again later.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I put in a support request with my host and the response was:

	The Entry Process Limit is the cause of these errors. This is the amount of concurrent PHP scripts which can run on your account at once.

	We're currently seeing several requests with complex parameters every second from different IP addresses around the world:

<p>
	I went to utilities &gt; Backup, Restore &amp; Optimize Table Data &gt; Select All &gt; Back up &gt; Go and I get the attached message
</p>

<p>
	If I deselect Select All and just try selecting one of the items in the list I get the same message, albeit for the relevant table.<br>
	<br>
	I asked Darrin for help, thinking that perhaps my database was too large for <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> backups (11,000 names, 6000 images) but he replied saying "Actually that could mean that your Root Path is wrong. Go to Admin/Setup/General Settings/Paths &amp; Folders to check. You could just set it to blank and let <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> determine it dynamically."<br>

	My webhost does not include a free backup service (am regretting my choice of webhost!)

	I am new to <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> and am making good progress I think, albeit with a fair bit of much appreciated help from Darrin. Am currently sitting up until all hours to link all the media files, of which I have several thousand!<br>
	<br>
	I have a gmail address that I have used for years for family history and it is the one linked to <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr>. I have clicked on 'Contact Us' and sent a 'testing testing' email. I get a 'thank you your message has been sent' flash up on my screen... but no email arrives in my gmail inbox.<br>
	<br>
	Thus far, I haven't set up a mailbox on my hosting account as I wasn't sure I needed to. I don't want them to provide me with an email address linked to my domain. But could this be the reason I am not receiving emails sent by users via the Contact Us facility? Is there anywhere else I need to configure email on <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr>? I've tried trawling through all the sittings but can't see anything obvious.<br>

	I am setting up Mail and Registration in the Setup section of the Admin panel.  The Wiki has not been updated to include information about SMTP authentication, but I checked with my hosting service,  ICDSoft.  I am using the details that they provided.

<p>
	It works if I do not Use SMTP authentication, but as soon as I turn on SMTP authentication, I get an authentication error.

<p>
	I am using Template 15 and I created a different email address for the website than I used to register for <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> if that makes a difference.

	Any idea how to fix it?

	Hello fellow TNGers!

<p>
	I just now installed <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding"><abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr></abbr> v. 15.0.5 on my test site and tested the new "collapse" on the Family section. It looked like this before collapsing:
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="20205" href="https://tng.community/uploads/monthly_2026_05/TNG1505-FamilyUncollapsed.jpg.b628d594fd8a24cc7d122f62013307f6.jpg" rel=""><img alt="TNG1505-FamilyUncollapsed.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="20205" data-ratio="41.30" data-unique="ye26p32d2" width="1000" src="https://tng.community/uploads/monthly_2026_05/TNG1505-FamilyUncollapsed.thumb.jpg.6b325b223f3ed940b36b2f2074cfb493.jpg"></a>
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	but it appears it's not hiding any media that is attached to the "Marriage Bond", "Permission to Marry" and "Marriage" events in this section after I collapse it:
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" data-fileext="jpg" data-fileid="20204" href="https://tng.community/uploads/monthly_2026_05/TNG1505-FamilyCollapsed.jpg.57b1d56788966c9cca627bdbfbf4e0ac.jpg" rel=""><img alt="TNG1505-FamilyCollapsed.jpg" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="20204" data-ratio="35.80" data-unique="ym3zybirf" width="1000" src="https://tng.community/uploads/monthly_2026_05/TNG1505-FamilyCollapsed.thumb.jpg.3e2f8ba91c2fb35eeba6641048152b1a.jpg"></a>
</p>

<p>
	Is this a bug or is it intended?
</p>

<p>
	Any advice is most appreciated!

	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	I run sussexjewishrecords.org.uk, a WordPress site with <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> integrated. After my host (GoDaddy) upgraded my PHP to 8.4 at the start of May, the site has been down. I'd be very grateful for two kinds of help.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>The technical situation:</strong>
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		WordPress now updated to 6.8.5
	</li>
	<li>
		Bridge theme (Qode Interactive) with bundled js_composer / WPBakery, LayerSlider, Revolution Slider, Qode plugins, all old
	</li>
	<li>
		<abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> integrated via WPTNG-meta.php (Darrin flagged this file as failing on PHP 8 and in need of developer attention)
	</li>
	<li>
		Currently on PHP 7.4 (downgraded by GoDaddy) and still getting a fatal error: <code>Cannot redeclare addslashes_gpc() ... in /wp-includes/deprecated.php on line 6503</code>. Looks like a mismatch of WordPress core files between versions
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	<strong>Has anyone else hit this combination?</strong> If so, what was your fix path?
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Can anyone recommend a developer</strong> who understands both WordPress and <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> and could do the proper updates (theme, bundled plugins, the WPTNG-meta.php fix, and a clean WordPress core reinstall)? Happy to pay a reasonable rate. I'm UK-based but the work can be done remotely from anywhere.
</p>

<p>
	Many thanks,<br>
	Naomi

	Hello everyone.

<p>
	I set up my <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> website 6-8 years ago, and everything worked perfectly.
</p>

<p>
	Now I want to do the same for a friend, but I'm stuck during the installation. I'm completely lost.
</p>

<p>
	I created a database with the provider.
</p>

<p>
	I copied the <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> data and opened the readme.html file.
</p>

<p>
	I clicked on "Set Permission." I should get an OK, but nothing happens.
</p>

<p>
	I entered the database details and got a 404 error.
</p>

<p>
	I've created a new database several times, deleted all the <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> data from the provider, and re-uploaded it. Nothing has worked. I keep getting a 404 error.
</p>

<p>
	When I try to start the website, the provider's index.html file appears.
</p>

<p>
	Can anyone help me, please?
</p>

<p>
	Thank you so much.

	Hi there,
</p>

<p>
	It's been 25 years since I did any coding and that I was only using rudimentary code then. l need a bit of help deciphering what is required of me on the top of the main Histories page of my site.
</p>

<p>
	My site is at:
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://www.stephendickson.scot" rel="external nofollow">https://www.stephendickson.scot</a>
</p>

<p>
	I would also like to have all the Histories pages not subject to login so that the Search engines can crawl them. Is this a good idea or am I thinking about things 20 years ago and you shouldn't do this now.
</p>

<p>
	Also there's a bit in the code that's telling me to delete something and I don't understand which bit.
</p>

<p>
	Here's the top of the Histories home page.

	I have created a few files to allow a fully automated install with Docker. It has been tested with V15, but may well work with other versions. You can find it at <a href="https://github.com/dolfs/tng-docker" ipsnoembed="true" rel="external nofollow">https://github.com/dolfs/<abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">tng</abbr>-docker</a>
</p>

<p>
	The premise is to clone the repository, download your <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> files as a zip archive, and put it in that same directory, edit a ".env" file for configuration (it can work with defaults), and run "docker compose up". You will not need to access the "readme.html" form and configure settings there. More flexibility is available. Please take a look at the README.
</p>

<p>
	It will create two containers, one for the MySQL database and another for <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr>. You will also see a remnant container (tng_init), which is only used once for configuration.
</p>

<p>
	P.S. Even when not using Docker, you can copy the ".env" file, the "tng_init.sh" file, and the ZIP archive to a server of your choice (typically the "/var/www/html" directory), log in, and execute the "tng_init.sh" script and not have to do the "readme.html" thing. Files will be unpacked, permissions updated, and the configuration will be completed.
</p>

<p>
	<strong>Enjoy!</strong>

<p>
	The reason we want to do this is that it would help us to manage our email comms effectively and efficiently.

	We are a Clan <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> website with users of differening technical ability and I am conscious to not add mods that need maintaining on upgrades and not keen to tinker with too many php files. I do not want the site to break if I am not the one around to do any upgrade for whatever reason.

<p>
	Is there a way to do this and if so, any advice?

I've had problems getting MAMP to run on the new computer so I installed MAMP on my wife's computer, MacBook Air with OS X 15.7.3. However when I open the admin page on <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> I get the above error. When I revisit the page, the changes I have tried to do have been applied to the page.

<p>
	The only error I have had during the install was that permissions could not be set for a  number of files and it told me to do it manually

	Any ideas what I have done wrong?

	This is to some extent a follow-on to a previous post, but the current context seems different enough to warrant a new one.  On https://rheinheimer.site, running <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> V15, I can display the home page and (now) log in as an admin, but clicking on any link that looks something up in the database spins and times out with a 503 error.  What I (and Claude) have done so far:  updated .htaccess to block most bots and created a script to check the max_user_connections to the database (20) and the current number of connections.  I'm not currently connected to the site, my "users" are a few members of my family, and the number of connections according to the script is 11.  Earlier today, I had 5 connections, clicked a getperson link, ran the script again, and immediately saw 15 connections.  I, Claudius is convinced <abbr title="The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding">TNG</abbr> isn't cleaning up connections, but that is not my non-AI intuition, and 5, 11, and 15 are all less than 20, so I don't see why the database should time out and give me a 503 return code.  Has anyone seen something similar or have any theories about this behavior?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks, Randal

	I've got version 15 running on my WAMP server.  I installed in a non-standard way because I didn't want to copy and paste extensive changes, so I exported and imported my sql database rather than via the README file.  That more or less worked, except I don't have my media because I can't find where to update my file path configuration, but that I could figure out if I could solve my other problem--my admin user password doesn't work.  Should the hash in the database be the same on the hosted server as on my local WAMP server or is it salted differently or something like that?  If so, is there a fix?  The only thing I've thought of is editing the password update php file to temporarily disable the check whether I'm logged in or not, but I hate to do that even temporarily in the wild.
</p>

<p>
	The behavior, in case it helps, if I use my admin user name and password from the WAMP server is a silent error--no failure message, but the page still says you are anonymous and there's no admin menu.
</p>

<p>
	Any ideas?  Can I delete that entry in the tng_users table and use some php file to regenerate a new admin user?
</p>

<p>
	Thanks, Randal
