Same element, different css coding
Ken Roy replied to Pops57's topic in Templates or Design Questions
Mike, I know nothing about Template 207 since it is a commercial template and may not be using the same css elements as the original TNG Templates. As I indicated Template 20 was built on the same framework as Template 4 so you might be able to compare the templatestyle.css definitions of both templates and get a clue on changing the colors to use a darker background. Best regards in your endeavor. -
Same element, different css coding
Pops57 replied to Pops57's topic in Templates or Design Questions
Thank you Ken. I understand. I really like the capabilities of multiple stories, and menus in Template 20, and the flexibility of adding links to multiple families/ branches. It is the best suited for those capabilities I have found yet in the available templates. Just thought I'd try to match the colors I had been using in T207. I will figure it out or stick with the light background as you intended. Thanks again, Mike -
I don't use a software that allows for the Address part of a location - Reunion just lets me put what I like into the place fields. As for TNG - this page http://lisaandroger.com/genealogy/places-oneletter.php?offset=3&psearch=Edinburgh%2C+Midlothian%2C+Scotland contains the example I had above of which has 5 "positions" and if you look at the link just above you'll see that TNG has shown a place and when you click on that you'll see 38 is a division of Gosford Place. If I had other house numbers on that same street, they'd all show up on the page for places within If you are putting things in the Address field of a software, then I don't know what TNG will do to them - does the software not allow you to put the entire place name into a single field? In your example above I'd put all into the place field, and then for another one, and I expect TNG would show the map for with 2 pins on it - one for each cemetery. From the sound of it, you're expecting TNG to put the "Name" part of that in front of the "Standard" part to construct the full address? Roger

Same element, different css coding
Ken Roy replied to Pops57's topic in Templates or Design Questions
Template 20 was designed to use a light background with dark text, mainly because I am color-blind and have difficulty reading any text on dark backgrounds. Sorry, but I do not have the time to figure out what you need to change but the template works like the other TNG templates and the same CSS class is used in more than one place. I am starting to feel like I should never have provided my personal template changes to Darrin to include into TNG. Template 20 was built using Template 4 but does not use tables for formatting but rather uses divs for the formatting. If you compare the css definitions for Template 4 it might give you a clue as to what colors you could use where -

I'm making some modification to template 20 for my site. In attempting to change some css color coding, I'm running into what appears to be the same element in different places. On the Home page, in the leftnavmenu, under the ancestors section (div#ancestors.fieldname), category items, the css coding for those bulleted items is "a.link, a:active, div.icons a". If I make that change, then over in the admin section, at Admin | Setup | Configuration, those menu items (General Settings, Template Settings, etc.) are also White (#fff) and the element appears to be that same "a.link, a:active, div.icons a". I admit I may be wrong in my analysis, or I may not be making the css changes as I should. I am making the changes in mytngstyle, css. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks, Mike

I look and see on your site... OK. I don't understand at all what's going wrong... I'm going to call the team! Send me your getperson.php file with ONLY the Sosa Mod installed. In the meantime, I will send you back your file with the Sosa code in the right place. Michel -
TNG does not group or recognize places that have more than 4 positions. It appears to mostly ignore them, although it does appear to at the ADDR tag info to the note section. However, say for example, I have 3 or more cemeteries in the same town. My expectation would be those cemeteries be grouped, in the (same) city, and their Map locations would be mapped via Places and/or Event Maps. @tea2weeds 1 EVEN 214462985 2 TYPE Find-a-Grave 2 PLAC Manchester, Hillsborough, New Hampshire, United States 2 ADDR Pine Grove Cemetery 3 MAP 4 LATI N42.9625854 4 LONG W71.4625778 3 NOTE ine Grove is the City's only active municipal cemetery. It comprises ap 4 CONC proximately 175 developed and 100 undeveloped acres, and is home to the C 4 CONC ity Mausoleum and Cemetery Maintenance Operations. Here is the result of one of the 20 people for that Cemetery. https://tng13.alveslaborefamily.net/getperson.php?personID=I74&tree=tree1 Maybe my expectation is wrong. So maybe the question is if/when you use the ADDR with a standardize location and add GEO coordinates specific to that "ADDR" such as below. If/how they can be mapped to the location details (which have a different geocode than the standardized location name).

Michel KIRSCH replied to jodrexel's topic in TNG Modifications
Joachim, I replace my getperson.php file with yours. I've installed Sosa : no problem... Try this to determine which Mod is causing the trouble : 1. uninstall all your Mods 2. install Sosa alone - Check the getperson page. 3. reinstall your mods one by one and check getperson after each install. When Sosa is misplaced : this is the Mod.... Say me which Mod it is. Michel -

SOSA mod, SOSA number display at wrong position
Michel KIRSCH replied to jodrexel's topic in TNG Modifications
Ah OK ! I understand now ! It's a double installation.... 1. uninstall all your mods. 2. copy a frech version of your getperson.php file from your TNG files 3. reinstall your Mods OR ... uninstall sosa and make a manual cleaning of all sosa code snippets... If you can (?) OR ... uninstall sosa THEN send me your getperson.php file Michel -
Thanks, everything is working fine. We are very fortunate to have volunteers like you to help the genealogical community.

I finished the installation of the mod. It shows as installed without any error. I emptied the CACHE of my browser (Firefox), logged out and logged back in. There was nothings shown in my "Users" tile in Administration or on the front page. However, after a little while (maybe 3 minutes), they finally showed both in Backend and Frontend. Apart from the table not being created using the Button, it all seems fine to me now. Thanks a lot Michel!

OK André. Sorry but I don't see what's going wrong. maybe the command is not enough complete for your ISP. Will investigate... I remember some explanations of Ken about this subject.... I'll recontact you by private mail... Michel

The table is now created but manually, using the code sent in this forum.
